Follow up on early Christmas shopping: How far along are you?

Last week I posted a discussion on how early is "too early" to start Christmas shopping... and now I wanted to ask people how far along they are in their shopping if they start early.
Right now I have about 16 people on my list, and I only have about 4 done. I have decided what to get about 4 more of them, so I'll be half done once I get those taken care of! I'm hoping to do that by this weekend.
So how far along are you? Have you even started? When do you want to be done?

I am pretty much done. I can't buy too much this year. My mother-in-law sent me some money to buy the gifts "from her". She did say I could give the kids money instead of buying a gift so I think I will do that. I will put the rest of the money towards a "big" family gift which I have already purchased (but not paid for). Everything is charged to credit cards so it is not going to be fun next month.
I have to get my sister's present, I am waiting for The Santa Clause III to come out on DVD next week, and I want to get some books online for my girls as well as the two girls next door. I guess I need to think about the boys across the street too. Oh, and stocking stuffers for DH. I have all the girls' stocking stuffers except for what I am waiting on Avon for... and I've been waiting forever!
My kids' "largest" gift cost $40. That's one $40 gift each. The rest are much lower priced. I just can't afford to overdo it this year... especially with a wonderful $1,000 charge to my credit card last week for van repairs. I hate being broke! :(

We all have those years. I always hated Christmas shopping during college because I never had money but I always wanted to get people something they would love. I racked up a lot of credit card bills, myself, and even now I use it as the way to finance my Christmas shopping and pay for it later. It's definitley not the best way to do things, but sometimes you make yourself suffer to make others happy. It's a viscious cycle! Good luck this year :-)

I havent done any of it. We usually wait till two weeks before christmas. I dont mind shopping then and we always seem to hit big sales. Plus the less times the presents are in the house the better. I have two boys 3 and 5 and they will find them. LOL.

I can't imagine what it's like to have young boys like that hovering around your tree :-) I just have my roommate and I and we pile all of our gifts for our family members under our tree until we need to go and see them. We love having the decorations up (as they will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving) so for us having the presents out is just added decoration since none of them are ever for either of us! It's pretty interesting how things will change once we have families.

I've only gotten ideas of what to do/get for everyone. I'm trying to earn some extra money online to help, but for the most part I will have to get really creative with my gift giving this year. My biggest thing will probably be digital scrapbooks for my family since my son just turned a year old. Our holidays are all split up. We see people from each side at different times. So I just have to know when everyone will be visiting and go from there.

Wow! The digital scrapbook is a great idea and it seems like a great gift for family members. That will be something that you could continue doing for grandparents since they always want to show off their grandchildren :-) You could have stumbled on a great series of gifts for years to come!
