I took her this Morning, and she failed it she has to take it again next week,I hope she gets it right this time, she has been driving for a lon time, but Her liscense expired so she had to take the test again, they won't give you 2 chances in one day, she has to come next week, I felt sorry for her, she wanted to pass that test so bad, I told her she pulled back to far and she knock the cone over, I knew she was going to knock it down, I could tell just by the way she backed back, she should of took her time. have you ever failed a parking test? She pass the Driving test but not the Parking test. once she passes that she's in there.

I can not pass the written test, because God is merciful. I took it three times and failed each time. I am usually good at written test. But if I pass that, I will have to get behind a wheel and God bless America, nobody wants that to happen.
I hope your sister is able to pass the test and be back on the road soon.

How bad do you fail the test... miss over half of them? I breezed through my written test missing only one. I studied the driver's handbook for a week before I attempted it though. Everything was so fresh in my mind at that point. Do you try to wing it like my hubby did?

Oh no, I studied very hard. A lot of those things, I feel you have to be familiar with to know what they are speaking of. I was just like 2 points shy of passing. The last time I took the written test was ten years ago. I have to deal with my anxiety before I attempt to be mobile again.

Poor dear. i hope she take some time to practice her parking between now and the next test. Patience and deep breathing will help. I don't have my license either, and will be getting it soon, so I hope she does get it! It will give me more courage to get mine! lol.

Thankfully I never had to do the parallel parking part of the test. Apparently it depends on what DMV office you go to. For example had I gone downtown where it's mostly parallel parking it would have been required for me to do it. But since I took my test at a different location (and where cars don't parallel park often) it wasn't required on my driving test. Good thing I didn't go downtown to take my test because I cannot parallel park worth a s%*@! LOL I had to once and did do it, but I had a hell of a time, especially while I was doing it a motorcycle parked right in front of me! But he saw my dilemma and helped me park. Whew! LOL
My husband is the one that told me about the different DMV locations and how only certain ones require the parking part of the test. This was mainly why I waited an extra year to take my driving test to begin with. I thought for certain that all the DMV locations required this, and I only took it after a friend of mine went and took hers and she let me know there was no parallel parking on her test. So even though I was still hesitant I took my chances and took my test. And sure enough it wasn't on my test. :)
Maybe your sister can go to a different DMV location and take her test there?

No i have never failed a driving test or a parkin test. I have licence for car, mc and truck.
I know some people find it very difficult to pass the driving test becuse onehave to be very concentratet while driving, and when you are in a driving test ones concentration can be focused on the test instead of the driving.
Goodluck to your sister.

I think she will do better next time. I tod her to practice this week-end, goto the same place where she took the test, you can't practice while they are open, but she can go there after they close.

Tell her to not be nervous and be over-confident about the test. She should go taking the test like..i know im going to pass this i've been driving too long. She's probably too nervous and freezes up while doing things she know she can do.

How disappointing for her. I had to dot he parallel parking between cars, not cones. I don't know if I could do it with cones.

I haven't had to re-test since I got my license at 16. I would probably embarass myself if I had to do the writted part again, but I think I would do fine driving and parking. When I originally took my written test, I only missed one question!

I hated that test. When I did drivers education (years ago) that was the first year for the manuver ability. I failed twice. I finally got it on the 3rd try at a different DMV. I had to re-take the test when I was in my 30's because I let my liscense exprire. I got it, but it was by the seat of my pants.
Tell you sister to take her time. I wish her luck!

i there marciascott
yes you know in Australia you first have to go for your learners permit which i failed but if i did not fail i cant drive the car on my own i have to be with someone and there is a sticker with an
l plate on the back of the car so people can see it is a learner is on the road and then then you have to study for plates then you can drive on your own but you would have a p plate and you do get licencse but you have to wait 4 to 5 years to have someone teach someone else to drive so i have failed my learners and i have failed it 3 times i will try again one day thanks for this discussion

I haven't taken a driving test for a long time. In Canada, once you get your license you do not have to take another test. You just go in, pay the fee, get you eyes checked and renew the license. I think this is a good idea to retest people though. I keeps people on their toes and rechecks people for cognitive or hand eye coordination issues. Don't worry about your sister though, I'm sure she'll pass next time!
GOod luck!

hi marciascott, when i took my test at age 17, i was pretty nervous as i hv never drive b4. all i did then was keep reminding myself tht if others can drive i can drive too. So your dear sis should tell herself..if others could pass she could too!. Good Luck!!!

Hi,there! I've never participated in a driving test nor a parking test. I'm not too interested in cars actually though I do think it's very convenient to own a car so that you can go wherever you like much easily. Is it very hard to pass? Some of my friends have done that before and most of them passed the test. But nowadays it seems it's becoming more and more difficult and then test more skills and situations. Sorry to hear that your sister failed and I wish her good luck next time! Best wishes and have a nice day:)
