If you're kids are old enough, ask them what they think the best part of becoming an adult will be. Then share it here. I thought this might be a fun topic for all of us.

This is a hard discussion to answer. My mother and I have spoken on a couple of occasions, including today, where we both agreed we didn't feel grown up until we were about 40. Until then we were just pretending, playing house. It's hard to believe you are a grown woman with a husband and children. I watch my hands as I wash the dishes and other housewifely chores and still shake my head in disbelief that I am here. Duh! I'm 45! As for my kids, my 14 year old can hardly wait to get a real job and drive. Being married and having children is far off her radar screen. My 11 year old is a funny monkey. She has spoken about possibly cheating on a boyfriend/husband because "what if you are in love with two people?" However, I think she plans on living under my roof forever, even with her own children. She is a bit of a lazy one and really doesn't want to grow up. He he he... who does? I think our children think life as an adult would be pretty much like what they see - their parents. In my case, broke, fighting about drinking, Mom staying home on the computer all the time and Dad going golfing on days off. I'm pretty sure they know that life is not like the families they see on tv.

It's great how we always want to be older than we are until we get there. :) This question was asked in a mom's group that I'm in. It was really cute to hear some of the kids' responses, esecially the younger ones. Thanks for responding.
