When do you put your christmas decorations up?

I'd do it now if I could, if it was practical. When I was at home and younger I was desperate for the decorations to go up as far back as October. I'm still enthusiastic now but this will be my first Christmas in my own home. I've started buying some in and want to put some decorations up as soon as it's 1st December but I only have a small/medium apartment so it will just get in the way.
When is the right time to put them up? Does having decorations up make you feel festive or mithered?
Maybe I should take the remainding Halloween deocartions down first.

Ok if your one for tradition then you should put your decorations up 6 days before christmas day and take them down again 6 days later (12th night).
Last year I never put any up until christmas eve :)
Personally I think christmas has become just one big pain in the bum and I am actually I am actually looking forward to spending the 2 weeks over christmas and new year in St Tropez lol :)

Never very traditional really although i'm sure we used to put it up on the Sunday before well I kinda remember doing it on the 18th, I think it depended on when the Golf Club my dad was a member of had their Kids Xmas do, Santa used to ride in on a golf cart, then when we got home we put all the decorations up but now I think first of the month is as long as I can wait. Well it means i'm getting my moneys worth.

I put up my decorations during the first weekend of December. Earlier than that and I don't feel that festive spirit anymore by the time Christmas does roll around. I like to take my decorations down after the new year.

We don't really have anything like thanksgiving just before christmas. I mean we have Bonfire Night which is big but not something you really decorate your home or anything it comes 5 days after Halloween so it's sort of all rolled into one.
