The other night I watched 'the Santa Clause' on Disney Channel, good movie. I love the 'Preacher's Wife' with Denzel Washington and 'It's a Wonderful LIfe' and so many others like Charlie Brown's Christmas and the Grinch.
One time a year, I watch 'THe CHristmas Story' (You'll shoot your eye out) that is enough.
Some of the cartoons they make are just awful..and I won't watch them.
What about you..what are your favorites and least favorite movies?

Ah yes the Santa Clause that is a good movie. My favorite though is The Christmas Story.
My least favorite is 8 crazy nights. I don't feel the holiday spirit in that movie.
I like movies that make me feel good about life and something that makes me laugh a little.

I agree, I want my Christmas movies to have a little deeper meaning.

I agree, a little meaning is nice, It's a Wonderful life is among the best.
I am trying to figure out how 'The Princess Diaries' and 'Harry Potter' became CHristmas movies

Well, I like White Christmas, Meet Me in St. Louis, the cartoon Mr. Grinch, A Charlie Brown Christmas, the cartoon Mickey's Christmas Carol, A Smoky Mountain Christmas, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (awesome). The ones I dislike are The Bells of St. Mary's, Elf (I may take some heat for not likeing that), Ernest Saves Christmas, Jingle All the Way, and animated Jack Frost.
I have never seen The Preacher's Wife. I think I have seen a few scenes over the years on TV, but I haven't seen the whole thing. Same with Home Alone. People seem to really like that movie.

I laughed at Home Alone, then took my husband to see it, and he was not impressed. As I looked at it again, it really was not funny, it was violent, sad, and I do not want to see it again.

I forgot White Christmas....next time watch Holiday Inn (predecessor to White Christmas and yes, that is where Holiday Inn got it's name)
My son loved Home Alone and he had dreams of my going to Europe and forgetting him at Chirstmas time at some time in his childhood, well that did not happen, I just did not have the opportunity to jump on a jet and forget him, but he wanted it to happen.

Is the Christmas Shoes based on the song about the kids mother dying - if so that has to be the most depressing movie.
I don't know the Christmas Blessing..what is that about?

I really like "It's a wonderful life" but have seen it so many times now, I don't think I could stand to see it again even though it is a GREAT movie.

Any other favorites. I like to watch this with someone, I must say when my son was young, he did not really appreciate it, but he sat through it with me to humor me.

I do not watch movies too often, but usually It's a Wonderful Life. Christmas on 34th Street, the original, is good. Last night I went to see Fred Claus--it was for work, lol. I did not think I would enjoy it, but I found out I was wrong. I laughed and cried both. I also enjoyed seeing The Polar Express on IMAX last year for Christmas.

I'm glad to hear Fred Claus was good. I wanted to see it, but then it got bad reviews. I never listen to the critics, but no one said anything good about it. I decided to wait and see what a REAL person thought. And now that I know, I'm going to see it when I can. : )

Oh, a nice reveiw for Fred Claus...yes, I may get roped into going to see it.
I liked the Polar Express too...love IMax but it has gotten too expensive here - $20 per person. But almost anything with Tom Hanks is good.

My favorite is A Christmas Story. It is a tradition to watch it every year. I also like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and all of the cartoon classics from my childhood like Rudoph and Frosty.
I don't like most of the newer christmas movies. It seems like there is nothing original anymore.

Christmas Story once is ok..my son used to love the 24 hour of it on whatever station that is. I like Christmas Vacation too...you gotta love a guy, no matter how inept, who will got through such pains for Christmas.
You are right about the classic Christmas Cartoons.

Can you count Home Alone with Macauley Culkin? That was set around Christmas. I loved that film (when it first came out) when I was much younger. The worst film is that one with Dudley Moore in it, I'm sorry I can't remember the one because I have buried it and not want to remember it. Grinch I didn't like either because of Jim Carrey who I hate.

Yes, Home Alone - the favorite of young boys all over the world. The story where the kid outsmarts the adults. Kid power. I don't know the Dudley Moore one. I think the Grinch with Jim Carrey was scary...I liked the cartoon one.
I love the Christmas Carol too...anyone remember the Magoo Christmas Carol.

I don't know if I have a "disliked" Christmas movie. I absolutely have to watch "Elf" and "Scrooged" every year or it's not Christmas. Those two movies are among the funniest movies I've ever seen. Will Ferrell and Bill Murray are hilarious.

My least favorite is A Christmas Story. I cant stand it. And they always play a marathon around christmas time. My favorite is the Santa Clause movied with Tim Allen. They are very funny and we can watch it as a family. I want to see the new one "The Excape Clause" Looks funny. Another favorite is How The Grinch Stole Christmas, the cartoon one. We used to have a dog that looked just like the grinches dog. My dad would always say he was going to staple antlers to her head! LOL.

Every kid needs a 'Max' - if not a stuffed one that a real one. A Christmas Story is not my least favorite but I don't go out of my way to watch it.
They keep making knew ones..but so many are not good..I wish they would just make some good ones..I saw a preview for one where Santa gets panted by Shannon Dourety (spelling) Does Santa wear boxers or briefs (at his age..he wears Depends) but hello - what value add is that to the Christmas season?

I love A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life, The Grinch. I love all the old Rankin Bass animated Christmas specials, like Rudolph and Frosty. The old CBS special The House Without a Christmas Tree is another favotrite, it's from the mid-1970's, it just came out on DVD. I also love TV Christmas episodes, like when TV Land does their annual Merrython.

I don't have any true Christmas movies I don't like.
I love these...
A Christmas Carole
It's A Wonderful Life
The Christmas story
Miracle On 34th Street
The Bishop's Wife which was remade later and called The Preacher's Wife
The Shop Around The Corner with Jimmy Stewart/remake, You've Got Mail...but shop around the corner was more Christmasy
Holiday Inn ( Where the song White Christmas came to be)
There are a few more...I love the movie The Holiday, just wish they threw a bit more Christmas into it...however after saying that, I have watched it about 20 times lol

There was a version of the Christmas Carol, I think it was made in 1938, was in b&w - I saw it today, I think it was the version that I liked best. It was not dark like the George C. Scott one, it had a tremendous amount of humor it. We laughed quite a bit.

Well, I love the animated stuff I grew up with... Rudolph, Frosty, Santa Claus is coming to town, the Grinch, etc...
I also love: Polar Express, Christmas Story, The Santa Clause, Christmas Vacation, The Night they Saved Christmas, Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Bad Santa...
Really the only two that I absolutely don't like are Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life. I've just never gotten into them
