have you heard of "honeymoon period"?

hello friends, i am quite confused with this term.and when i first heard this i thought it to be something interesting.My uncle, when, first diagnosed for diabetes he was put on insulin. But now the dosage has been decreased. The doctor tells him that he is in ‘honeymoon period’ of diabetes.my mom explained it to me but i couldn't figure it out.but whatever i listened from her,i only came to know that this honeymoon period is a good thing.do you know what it means?
