Dose your home-alone dog treat your sofa like a giant chew toy?Has your cat turned furniture shredding into a fine art?Tht cause of canine desturctiveness and constant napping may sometimes be sheer boredom.Bored dogs chew up furniture, bark, howl, and in essence become neurotic, unhappy beasts.Their feline counterparts also show their disdain for a monotonous life.Or they get fat because they just eat and sleep. How do i help my home-alone pet? Please give me some advice to help keep my pet from pining in my absence during the day. Thanks a lot.

I understand I have a 2yr old border collie/sheppard and he was the same way for a bit. One thing I found helped is a long walk or a shrot one will do in between when you can. I know this can be a hard one cause I slack on it to but if you remember it helps cause he/she gets time with you and burn energy so important. The other thing I did was made sure I gave him lots of play toys and his favorite types of chew bones. I picked a time of day that I could spend quality time with just him an hour or more but not less; doing tricks giving treats and massage, he loves that. I normally will do this at night after his walk, not every night but I try to do it two days in a row. When I started the "dog time" with him at the begining it was everyday to establish routine. I found he would come to me and ask for his special time this helped alot when I went out I guess he knew that when I was done with me it was his turn. Another thing is when your leaving the house just leave what I mean by that is I 've seen people let there pet, mostly dogs, know bye saying goodbye or fussing with them and then the dog gets disapointed cause your fussing over him/her then your gone. I don't know if you tend to "let" your pet know if you are try feeding him in another room just before you leave, but make sure it's some thing he will eat right away it will distract him/her and then it will eventually become routine and once hes done you will be gone, he wont be worried about you case hes got a full belly, toys and the place to himself. I know this is alot hope it helps. I have a few other ideas but theses are the big ones that helped me. bb:)s

Hi my friend. I have some ideas to help our pets while you work. Here are some engaging games and tactics to help keep your pets from pining in your absence during the day. 1.Arrange a sacvenaer hunt. Most dogs love to be assigned jobs. You can stash some food treats around your house for your dog to find after you leave for work each morning. 2.Provide rooms with views.Cats love to watch what's happening outside.Place a bird feeder on a tree branch outside within view of your cat's favorite window perch.
