I believe that everything is a part of God and that God is a part of everything. So we can never really be seperated from God. I also don't believe that God judges us. I think he loves us unconditionally. When we do something that seems to be a mistake I think he helps us see a different way. I do not think God punishes us. I think he realizes that we create our own hell when we judge ourselves and think we are not lovable. He keeps trying to get us to remember that he loves us NO MATTER WHAT we do. And he gently tries to help us find a better way to live and it is all about remembering that he wants us to be happy and he wants us to be joyful, not sad. So don't judge yourself by saying you could be doing so much more to serve God. The best way you can serve God is by loving yourself enough that you have lots of love left over for everyone else. Remember the bible saying "Love thy nieghbor as yourself". Well you have to start by loving yourself.
