I'm a freshman in college and I've been assigned to read Lilith's Brood by Octavia Butler. I had never heard of it before, nor did most of the sutdents. I couldn't even find it on sparknotes, so I was forced to read it...and I still am reading it. It's a science fiction novel, in which the Earth was destructed by nuclear weapons and wars. The humans who survived the 'nuclear winter' were saved by some alien species who want something from them. It's quite an interesting book and relatively easy to read. The major drawback: no pictures + lots of pages.
