Right Hand or Left Hand- Which One You Use Handling Umbrella When Its Raining?

Since yesterday its been raining. I carry umbrella with me when going to office. I opened my umbrella and walk down to the bus stop. Its raining hard with some wind. I have a shoulder bag which I put on my left shoulder and usually I carry the umbrella with my right hand, but since its raining hard the shoulder bag and the left side of my clothes get wet. So I shifted the umbrella on my left hand and I notice that its better that way.
What about you how do you handle your umbrella when its raining? Do you prefer to use umbrella or a raincoat?

Hi,there! I usually would use my right hand to handle the umbrella when it's raining.I'm just used to my right hand.I've got some friends and they usually use their left hand to do things in daily life,like writing or playing pingpong and so on.As to what kind of tool that I use in the raining days,it really depends.If I ride a bicycle,then I'll prefer a raincoat.But if I walk or take a bus,then I'll prefer an umbrella.

now that you mentioned it, it got me into deep thinking. ^__^;; i was just out a while ago and it was raining outside and i had an umbrella. i think i usually carry an umbrella using my left hand. for i put my shoulder bag too on my left shoulders. i would carry my umbrella by my left hand so that i can pin my bag using my left arm and elbow. and that makes my right hand so free. and its like, multi-tasking for my left appendage. LOL

I usually carry umbrella with my right hand, I find it more comfortable.

I use my right hand in using my umbrella. But since my country is storm-ridden country, I would use both hands one to support the other to carry it. :)

I don't use an umbrella often, and when I do, the way I hold it depends on which direction the rain is coming from, and how many other things I have to carry. I've actually been looking for a good warm raincoat with a hood to make it easier to move around in the rain. When it rains here, there is usually so much wind that an umbrella is hard to hang onto.

I usually hold umbrella with my right hand and i am comortable holding it..With left hand side i dont have enough grip to umbrella...I mostly use umbrella and i dont have raincoat and carrying an umbrella is much easier..

hehe this is a good topic for me. It rains A LOT here. I generally use my right hand to carry my umbrella as it is my dominant hand. The exception is if I'm carrying something else like my cell phone, a smoke, or something I'm eating that needs immediate attention.
SOmetimes I shift hands when I'm holding it for a long time to give each hand a rest. Generally I don't use either. I drive so I don't really worry about that stuff a lot.

Hi, dot not like much of that, I user another gurd-rain or a cover of rain because I think better to escape the rain but here it not raining and i think more so, If you comment on my.

I have never really though about it before, but now that I have I usually have the umbrella in my right hand. I am right handed and I think I do most of the things with my right hand. Only thing I might use my left hand for is dialing and talking on my cell phone. I guess because my right hand is busy doing other things like steering the car, or having a smoke.

Well, I am used of using my right hand although I can still use my left hand in holding umbrella. I prefer to use raincoat than umbrella. I dont know but if I have a choice I would rather get wet in the rain than use umbrella. I hate bringing it with me. I only use and bring it, when I am with my daughter.

It doesn't really matter to me, but since I am more of a left-hander, I carry my umbrella more times with my left hand than my right. When I am out with my wife and it is raining, which hand I carry the opened umbrella really depends on whether my wife is on my left or my right. If it is the former, then I will use my left hand and vice versa. It is not commonplace for us to use raincoats here, but umbrellas are carried by many people on wet days.

Always my right hand when holding an umbrella, however I dont use them very often as it is so windy here and almost impossible to carry an umbrella!

i am right handed person so i usually use right hand to do almost all my work. Same is the case here. i love to play in rain though. so actually hw many times i use umbrella is questionable. wenever i do its with my right hand.

I much prefer an umbrella to a rain coat, there are too many layers confining you to one space with a raincoat.
I generally hold an umbrella in my right hand but if my arm gets tired I change. Although most of the time I totally forget to bring my umbrella and end up making a dash for it!
