Is Darfur a genocide?

Well the United States government calls it a genocide...the United Nations on the other hand does not.
Although there is a lot of violence and killing in Darfur, it cannot be referred to as a genocide. Genocide is defined as the deliberate and systematic annihilation of a racial group. The fightings in Darfur are due to drought the past several years. The fighting is not intended at eliminating an ethnic group. Instead, the fighting in Darfur is over land. Therefore, Darfur is not a genocide, but a conflict.
