My Husband has the Spirit!

I came home from work today to find the Christmas tree set-up by the fireplace. The garland was hanging above the mantle and cupboards in the kitchen. The boxes of ornaments are in the hallway and are ready to be put on the tree. I think that can wait for a week before that happens. Hubby is anxious to get it done. But, first we have to find the box that we stored the lights in.
Maybe the lights disappeared for a reason. I have pondered getting new LED lights to place on the tree. It was time to replace the old ones because they are about 7 years old now. I have to go shopping tomorrow. Love to shop for Christmas decorations.
We did get into a disagreement over the tree being up so soon. He mentioned that he wanted to put it up this weekend. I told him I thought it was too soon. He thought different.

That's a little soon, but at least his is in the spirit!lol I think I would faint if I walked in and my boyfriend had that much done lol, actually he does go with me to pick out the tree, and he gets it all set up for me, since we always get a real tree, then he lets me do the decorating. My daughter helped me decorate the outside last year, he just made sure we had the right cords and stuff lol, she'll be here for Thanksgiving and so will his daughter, so us girls will get the outside decorated the weekend after Thanksgiving, and listen to alllll the advice from him and my son-in-law lol

I guess he was bored because he is not working!LOL We dont put our tree up till the weekend after thanksgiving. I couldnt stand to look at a Christmas tree this early. It sounds like your husband does what he wants regardless what you say.LOL I know some men are like that. Youve got to train them better.LOL If my husband did that I would take down the tree myself. And that would be the last time he did that.heheheheh

hmmm this is a bit early for me, but everyone is different, aren't they? I am a big Kid and have my Mary and Joseph advent calendar poised to open from 1st December but I like to have my decorations up from about 15th December onwards and then remove them at 12th night, just to enhance the excitement. When the decs go up, Father Christmas is ever closer, and I start to really enjoy planning meals and such for the festive time. I do buy my Christmas presents and store cupboard shopping throughout the year as I am on a budget and of course I have to send my cards early because the postal system can not cope but I do all my wrapping etc in that last ten days, and it really adds to my enjoyment. On the down side for my neighbours, I start singing the Christmas carols and songs then too :-)
As regards tree lights, it is worth checking the cable every year as worn cables can cause fires, and also checking that all the bulbs are in securely. I lurve lights! We bought ours half price two Januarys ago, but we did get a bargain.
I am sure you do not need this advice

but maybe someone reading this post will be saved from a fire by reading the safety light advice above.
As to your husband starting Christmas so early, well, I bet he is a lot of fun to be around, and that is priceless, possibly even without the decs it is Christmas for you every day?

We are going to have temperatures in the 70'S this weekend, but that will make some of the preparation easier. It was cold last night, and will be tonight, so that helps my spirit, too.

Sounds like your hubby has still got a little boy in him, he can't wait for santa, I think that is nice to see, I don't even think about Christmas until in December not that I do much about it these days, it seems it comes around so fast these days the shine has gone off putting decorations up but then I don't have kids to please either...

He really is a big kid. I have often been told this by members of my family.

My neighbors have put their outside lights up already. We haven't even started thinking about when we'll put our tree up. My husband always does the outside lights and he helps me with the tree inside. I always put a few christmasy things in the bathrooms and in the living room too. We probably won't decorate until the first part of December. I'm scared my son will try to mess with the tree this year because he is very curious about things and last year he was only 7 months old and he didn't really mess with it. This year he'll be 19 months and he has to "check" everything out. LOL So I'm a little nervous about putting the tree up.

At least he is in the spirit. I just can't get there. There is an awful lot of things going on and I just cannot get in the mood at all. I am sure your house will look very nice.

The media and stores are working hard to get us all to up the day we get ready for Chirstmas. Enjoy his labor. I know you think it is too early, Personally, I do to but he did work hard to get it nice for you. :) Give him hug and kiss and you will forget that it is not Thanksgiving yet. :)

It sounds nice to me, i like the spirit of your husband even though its a bit early. Christmas is the season where we have to forget the bad things happened to us and thank god for the things that he has done to you and it seems that your husband has something very good in his mind. Still there is no sign of christmas spirit here and i guess it will be like that till the december sets in until and unless we meet some person like your husband.
Hope your family have a memoriable season :).

i used to be like your hubby and want to start decorating like the stores here do, the day after halloween (our t'giving is in october) but now i wait until mid december, but my daughter's friend puts up their tree and everything really early, like nov 15, so it just depends on what you like to do!

It is much too soon for me, Elusive. I always like to wait until after the first week in December because the season lasts so long you are subject to tire of it before Christmas is over. I do know some people who just can't wait that long and put up their tree early as well.

If he has the time and mood, why not?

Going to see Fred Claus put me in the spirit of Christmas and decorating, unfortunately, I have to clean first, and find everything, and find places for everything. It is going to be fun. I love movies with beautiful scenery and decorations.

It's way too soon in my opinion. I wait til about the second week of December, I'm not in the mood at all. It's not special to me if the decorations are up that long.

I always put my Christmas tree up the weekend of Thanksgiving, so you aren't that early. Our tradition is to put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving and take it down the weekend after New Years. I think I am ready to start feeling some holiday spirit so will have hubby climbing into the attic next weekend to get the ball rolling. Enjoy the spirit.
