I backup different stuff at different times. I backup Windows whenever I make a major change, or install something from GiveawayOfTheDay (might not get it again). I backup first to a second partition, then boot back into Windows and burn the image to DVD(s).
I usually make a duplicate of each of my data files (one on my Seagate USB hard drive), and backup invaluable stuff on Xdrive for privacy or StoreWith for hosting. If it's a small, priceless file, I'll save it on a floppy (corrupt floppies are easy to retrieve data from).
A lot of my stuff is on my 2 GB Kingston flashdrive, including my e-mail client and several other personal/techie items. I back this up to DVD every so often, usually when I reconfigure something (I had to reconfigure Thunderbird once or twice).

I know. It is more complicated than simply burning data files to CD/DVD. But there's so much software on my machine, it would take me a solid week to set it all up again. I spare myself the trouble by backing up the whole operating system.
I'll tell you what's really complicated: me trying to learn terminal in Linux. My Windows partition is so much of a community resource, that I decided to dual-boot my machine and install a lightweight Ubuntu operating system just for me. And I've always been a Windows user.

I seldom backup my files, but I am used to save my important files in D or E disks.

Thank you for your advice, I have decided to buy mobile hard disk which will be used to backup some very very important files in my computer.

I know the practicality of backing everything on your computer, and I'd like to say that I do it on a regular basis like you, but unfortunately, I'm much too impatient to sit there while my slow-enough laptop burns everything to a disc, and then have to find somewhere to put the thing!
I'd only lose the disc, anyway, so I don't think it would do me much good, really, in the end!

I used to back up on USB drive and DVD disc both folders, files, and a complete image back up of everything. But over the years, I have learnt to back up everything as a image only. It's important because when you restore the image or important programs, it can save hours and hours of updating them - particularly the security and other updates for Windows, antivirus, spyware, and firewall programs...

it is very very advisable to back up your files regularly. you dont know when will you computer will crash. to avoid hassles of lost files, back them up regulary, maybe once a month. dont forget to label your backup's and indicate a date every backup...
