What Is The Oddest Job You've Had?

I think that all my jobs have been pretty much standard, except maybe the one I had as a teenager in Australia. My mom worked as a seamstress for a very small clothing factory. They made those tight rugby shorts (can't remember what they were called). Teens were hired to cut the thread off the shorts that the seamstress left on. We pretty much sat on the ground with a pair of scissors and a bunch of shorts around, and on us. That's my odd job story, what's yours?

WEll I'm a Beekeeper or Apiarist. I have 400 colonies of Honeybees. In a good honey season I collect upwards of 40,000 lbs of Honey.I work with the bees from spring to fall. I have to open the colonies to check them. This can upset the bees and they get angry. There can be 75000 bees in a colony. I wear a coverall, with veiled hat and gloves. And tie my pantlegs to keep them from crawling up my legs. Sometimes they do get inside my clothes. They usually sting me on the stomach when they get in. If you would like to help me next spring please let me know!

Thinking back it was working at a dry cleaners. I was the counter girl and tagged the clothing as it was brought into the store. I didn't actually do any of the dry cleaning as the machines were located at another store. Had a woman come in one day and explained that her husband had an issue and didn't quite make it to the bathroom. Use your imagination. I carefully tagged the slacks, put them in a separate bag and went directly to the bathroom to wash/scrub my hands. I worked there a little over 3 years and only had one bad experience. We did get our clothes cleaned free each week as long as we stayed within the alloted amount.

I don't know. I have had many jobs in my life. I think the oddest job I had was directing traffic at the Florida Aquarium. I would stand with these things in my hands and point traffic in certain directions. Most often people wouldn't understand what was going on, since it was very new and the parking lot wasn't completely set up. It was quite confusing and I was hot and miserable throughout the time I was there. I think that is the oddest job I have ever had.

I popped bristles into brush handles. Had to stack them in boxes of six rows and 9 levels. That was how I could remember that 6x9 is 54.

I suppose the oddest would be cultivating mistletoe. We picked mistletoe which by the way grows in oak trees, well in Texas. And for the most part it was shipped up to the Northeast for holiday decorations, and some went to some type of cancer research. But you could make a couple of hundred dollars in a day.

I worked at a place called "Bill Lewis Lures". They are fishing bates. We did it all from painting them to putting the hooks on them. Actually it was kinda fun... I suppose it's odd... You think? LOL

I think my oddest job is the one I have at the moment - working in China as an English teacher. And it's not so much the job that's strange as the China experience. It's definitely odd not being able to do most of the things I was able to do back home (pay bills, go shopping, order food) without help most of the time. It's challenging and rewarding all at once.
