In the news here in Australia at the moment is an article about mothers here in Australia seem to be breastfeeding there children longer. They were discussing this on the radio in the morning and whilst I agree that breastfeeding in fantastic for your child, there has to be a cut-off point at some time. The radio station was asking for mothers to ring in and tell us how long they breastfed their children for. A woman called in and said that she had an 8.5 year old that still breastfed of a night before bed! She said that her child was well adjusted and didn't have any sort of problems whatsoever and it was a bonding thing. She stated that the child called it "boo-boob".
I don't know about anyone else, but this is just weird! If you still feel the need to breastfeed your child when they're of school-age, maybe you should be expressing and not letting them "attach".
Personally I think that you should breastfeed your child for as long as possible, but when they are of any age where they are on solids and can walk, it should stop.
This is just my opinion only and I may get crucified on here by some of you but I am after other people's opinions too. What are everyone else's thoughts on this?
