I was going through a stressful time and my doctor prescribed Zoloft to help me. About a week into taking it, I felt horrible. My eyes were extremely dilated and I couldn't stop grinding my jaw. I felt worse than I did before I started taking it and I looked like I was high on something. I quit taking it, but have been curious to see if anybody else has had a similar experience with it.

Bruxism (the grinding of teeth) is one of the more common - yet, less talked about - side effects of Zoloft. Long-term use can cause severe tooth damage as a result of this; and that prospect is made even worse when you consider the fact that the SSRI also causes dryness of the mouth. It sounds as though you were also suffering from akathisia, which is restlessness and the inability to keep still. When I was on Zoloft, I experienced that particular side effect; and it ultimately led to me losing my job. I definitely felt worse after taking Zoloft.

I too had a bad reaction from zoloft. I lost my mother and was very depressed for over four months, so doctor prescribed zoloft. Said I would feel real good taking it. I only took it three days as the reactions started almost immediately. I had terrible diarrhea, could not eat or sleep. I had electric shocks going through my body and felt I was dying. I too had the eye dilation. It has been over a month now and I still have trouble seeing in bright light. My muscles became very flaccid. I was in bed for over a week and have never been so sick in my whole live. I would take swine flu over that any day!
