Hi.. thank God i am not coz i love ice cream too much and all other dairy products... i am now drooling over yogurt ice cream and i am planning to buy one later this afternoon... hahaha...
I feel badly for those who have this condition...
Lactose intolerance is the inability to digest dairy product and people who suffer from it suffer from excess gas production, stomach aches, and diarrhea when they consume too much dairy products.
Did you know that....
British researchers from the University College London (UCL) in UK and Mainz University in Germany have teamed up to conduct tests on Neolithic skeletons dating between 5480 B. C. and 5000 B. C. to look for a gene that produces lactase enzyme.
The skeleton study proved that the lactase gene was absent from the Neolithic remains. Only a few thousands ago, that most European adults were unable to drink milk.
Lactase is an enzyme found in the small intestine is needed in order to digest lactose, a sugar found in milk and dairy products.
According to Dr. Mark Thomas form UCL, “The ability to drink milk is the most advantageous trait that’s evolved in Europeans in the recent past.”
People of Northern European descent are lucky because statistics show that except for their group, lactose intolerance affects 95% of Asians, 75% of African Americans and 24% of Caucasians today.

Fortunately, I am tolerant with lactose. I love to eat ice cream and yogurts as well because it is so delicious, so I think it would be a great loss on your part if you are intolerant with lactose. LOL
Aside from that, I drink milk every night before going to sleep. I find drinking milk as an effective way of sleeping comfortably. I get sleepy right a way if I drink milk.
On the other hand, milk is a stool softener, so this is very effective especially if you are suffering from constipation and other bowel problems. Have a great day and happy posting!

I've heard about that but I've never tried it since before. They say that it also helps in restful sleep and used to reduce stress as well. Maybe I'll try it if there is an opportunity..:-)

well I am not Lactose Intoleratn but my condition is almost as bad. Ever since I started having problems with my gall blader I cant eat anything with milk or egg without going to the toilet 5 min later. I was hoping it would go away after the operation but it is worse. The doctors say it is a side effect and there is little I can do. After over a year I have learned to deal with it.

I'm lactose intolerant. It sucks. It isn't bothersome enough for me to cut dairy out of my diet but I have to limit it and I know the consequences if I eat too much dairy and have to live with that.
Like I love pizza. The pizza we get is loaded with cheese. It is so yummy. But I always end up sick afterwards because of all the cheese, lol. But I still eat the pizza because it is my favorite.
I just love cheese, period. I don't drink milk anymore, though. It never bothered me until I was pregnant with my 2nd child in 2001. During the pregnancy I couldn't eat/drink any dairy or I felt really sick. It got better after he was born but since they I have been lactose intolerant. I don't eat a lot of ice cream anymore either. Mostly it is the cheese.

Well i am caucasian and i am one of the unlucky 24% who suffer from lactose intolerance. It's funny i can still eat dairy products and I have done most of my life but if I do i know that I will suffer for it.
I never used to be lactose intolerant and it only appeared in the last few years.
I have always had a high proportion of dairy produce in my diet, lots of milk, cheese, yoghurts etc I think my body just gets fed up with too much dairy produce as i can still have milk in my tea or eat a yoghurt and no effects but if i eat a bowl of cereal and then say have a cheese sandwich not long after and do this for several days in a row the symptoms will appear.
I feel very lathargic, have bad skin both on my face and my back it makes me produce higher amounts of mucus so I am constantly sniffing and it makes my face swell. As my nose and breathing tract get blocked with more mucus I find it harder to exercise.
When I have no dairy produce in my diet everything is back to normal and I feel like i can run a marathon.
I know have to watch what i eat and the amount of dairy products that i consume. It's a shame but i guess the body is not designed to take cow, goat, sheep milk etc only human milk :P
