Do You Use Lights During The Day?

We use fluoresent bulbs...They are a little but more expensive but worth it...I don't use lights during the day unless it is storming outside and it is dark and gloomy during the day...

Very rarely copperkitten I am with you on the conservation of the most energy during the day when solar power can be harnessed . . . well at least manage to peep through my curtains and such ! My computer even stays in screensaver mode every two minutes since it is on 24/7 but goes to stand-by if I am off for more than one hour. Do you also unplug any of your appliances until needed for use, like the coffee pot, toaster or microwave oven ? I heard that reduces electrical usage. I try not to, though I have a lot of trees in my yard which block out the natural light (at least during the times when there are leaves on the trees :P). So even though it would be bright out, I might turn on a light so I can see what I am doing. And I almost always turn on the light in the bathroom as there is no window in there to let in the natural light. If it is overcast or stormy during the daytime I may have a light on. Though I do like to turn the lights off when no one is in the room.

Depends on where I am at in the house. Usually the upstairs is pretty well lit during the day, so there is no reason to turn on a light, unless you are reading in the living room early in the day because its still quite dim. The guest bathroom has no windows, so if you go in there, you would have to use the light. Downstairs in the basement on one side you wouldn't need a light, unless you were reading because it only has one small window that is that block glass, however, on the other side of the steps, you need a light no matter what time of day it is, because there are no windows at all. The bathroom downstairs has a nightlight, so I don't turn the real light on unless I am washing up or doing my hair, or anything else that requires that I see well.

Hi, I would use when my room is too dark. Mostly if I feel sleepy or like to watch TV I would off light even it is day or night. Still while I read in day time in my room which is bit dark I would on the lights.

Yah I guess we are bad about that. Have to tell the 10 yr old to turn off his TV because he will leave his room and leave it on that irks me. Do you leave your PC on?

I hardly ever use lights in the daytime, unless it's a really gloomy day outside and I can't see what I'm doing. Once in a while, if I'm sewing or something, I'll have the light on so I can see...but most of the time I just sit in front of the window and it's plenty enough light. I also turn off lights, etc, when I leave a room, unless I'm just leaving it for a moment and going to come right back. I try real hard not to waste energy, and try and teach my grandkids, etc, to do the same.

in my place sometimes its not too light in daylight. well, i stay in rent house and the owner not thinking better how to make good ventilation of air and light to house. so if i feel necessary, i will turn on the electricity. but not whole of room. just the room where i was on that time. first, coz i like to saving energy and second, i like to save money. electricity bill getting rise by government recently :( but in office, i will work under lights everydays coz its so dark. when electricity down, we cant do our work coz we didnt have any genset to back up electricity.

Hi copperkitten, using lights in day is waste and unwanted.you are doing right to your kids.i appreciate you for that.i dont like to use light in day.but sometimes it is needed.they are due to poor day light,fog,rain.when these comes it is required and must needed.otherwise it will affect badly to our eyes.in my childhood days i always forget about switch off the light or fan when i leave one room.for that i had got many scolds from my parents.now i never forget while i leaving one room. I do not leave lights on during the day while I'm at work. It definately saves money on the energy bill. And I like to burn candles at nite, mainly because I enjoy the atmosphere candles give. It's relaxing after a long day at work and I love the scented ones.

No, i see it as a waste of electricity, i would rather just open up the cutains and get natural light...

I have to sometimes as the only window in our lounge doesn't let in much light especially on a cloudy day. I usually turn on our two lamps we have in our lounge room and or sometimes leave the kitchen light on. It can get very dark in our lounge. It's fine in the summertime though!

I do. Cause I hate the darkness, even a little. Now I live in the dorm of company, the energy fee is on the company, so I almost always leave the light on.

nope. why use ligths in a day when you have enough ligth that is given by nature. it's only a waste of electricity. i only used ligths during they day in a room that is so closed that dayligth cannot penetrate in there.

well i usually don't use light during the day unless if it's raining out and its darker than or sometimes my livingroom is a little dark so i will put the light on.pattie

No, i don't use lights during the day. Maybe i'm just lucky that the place where i live has windows and natural light is present inside. My bathroom also has a window near to it so what i did was put curtain instead of closing the door. That way i won't have to use the lights anymore. I'm trying to spare every kilowatt during daytime because come nighttime is when i need it most. I live alone and can't sleep without the lights on.

Yeah sometimes we use the lights on..because if there is something that i need to do with concentration i let it open and when im doing my crossstitching i always have it open.

nope! I don't use light at daytime. it is a waste of electricity unless you are rich you can afford to pay big.:) anyway, if your house is very closed without any transparent glass maybe you have to use lights even at daytime.:) fluorescent lamps and bulbs are the one consuming less energy so I usually have that kind of bulb at home and it is better than those other bulbs.

In certain rooms and certain times of the day, I need lights. Also, when I'm doing things like sewing I need more light. But usually I don't use many lights during the day, and I turn off the lights when I leave the room. I also use flourescent bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs in most lights. They use a lot less energy and last longer.

I usually don't use lights during day time. It doesn't do much in my oppinion, and also you can save electric bill and can use the expenses for something else that more important.
