It has been proven through stats, polls, etc. that Chineese are generally 'fatter' than japanese people. not saying that they're all fat, just saying that they are bigger lol. 2nd, thier languages are easy to distinguish... japanese use simple segments of speech that are soo easy for us to pronounce, that they can transfer thier language into english characters. Chineese use slurred sounds, and use different tones of voice that hardly any foreigners can copy. hope this helps XD

I would not know how to tell the difference between a Chinese person or a Japanese person. I would probably say the style of their clothes would probably distinguish their nationality. From looking at them I would not know how to tell the difference but Im guessing if you would be able to tell the difference between the two languages!!

Chinese-looking people look the same.... you have to distinguish them by the way they speak.

chinese eyes were chinky pointed in this dirrection - -
and japanese have their eyes pointed in \/(up, down).
also the way they speak, nihongo is syllabic and the accent is only in two levels, high-low and low-high. while in chinese language you have to speak it in tune. hope this helps.

Though Japanese are a little taller than Chinese averagely. But different Chinese from different parts of China are much different in stature. Most northerners are much taller than southerners of China and Japanese. And many Chinese can speak more standard English. Japanese used to bowing in greeting, but most Chinese used to shaking hands. Japanese like quiet; in contrast, Chinese is more extrovert to some extent.
