Do you have an emergency fund? I currently have an emergency fund of about $800. It's only to be used in cases of actual emergency - car break down, fire, theft. It's not be used because my friends want to go out to dinner.

I do not, but I sure wish I did. I certainly could have used it these last couple of months, what with my car constantly breaking down(4 times in less than 2 months).
It's really pretty sad, I work full time and I only spend money on necessities, yet I barely scrape by every month, let alone have anything to put in to savings or any sort of back up fund. Were it not for my piece o' junk car, I might actually be alright(you know, able to pay the bills on time and whatnot, not rich or anything). And yeah, I'd get rid of it and get something else if I could, but I can't(long story).
Maybe I'll strike it rich on myLot... LOL

Could you start by saving even $5 a month? I know that when I started my emergency fund, I had a very hard time. It seemed like no matter how well I budgeted, there was always something that came up.
I finally got sick and tired of not having a cushion. I gave up cable and internet in April 2006. I just recently got the internet back after 6 months. I still don't have cable back.
