Passion versus Addiction

Thanks for being inspired by me.I consider it as a great privilege.You are very passionate. I can say that if you don't suffer from the withdrawal syndrome it is a passion other wise it is an addiction.

It is difficult to make comparison between passion and addiction. Both are used in different sense. I can be passionate about my kids safety their welfare...I can be passionate about my old belongings. ...I can be passionate about reading certain kind of books. However, addiction is something, without which I cannot live my day to day like. If I feel addicted to something, I will try to get it ...I will try to grab it ...reach it by hook or crook. I think addiction is more dangerous than passsion. I also feel that a passionate person can easily become an addict. Excellent Post indeed! Have a great day! Deepak

Now that's a hard one lol.I am both passionate about my Hubby and addicted to him lol.When I have to leave him I cry alot, but now I take black chicken the crying isn't as much. I love him very much but try not to be addicted in the way I am to chocolate..I am trying to wean myself off too much choc by drinking bitter herbal teas!!

In medicine an addiction is something that gives you "dependence" that is if the administration of the substance is suspended there is the appearance of physical symptoms and "tolerance", that is the necessity of increasing the dosage of the substance to obtain the same effect....a passion is of course something we love, we are interested in...but as soon as I read your discussion I started thinking about love..a passion is the love that adds colours and meanings to your life..an addiction is a toxic love affair, one of those love affairs I know well...one of those "wrong passions" in which you love and give everything to another person that drains life and dignity from you without being worth of your love...an addiction is the wrong sort of love in which you love the other person more than yourself and believe it right...this is not right..I learnt this from my mistakes..nobody deserves it...only our own children...who are worth everything...so an addiction is a love passion turned into something deleterious and nocive to our own being...and I am an expert!!!!
