Driving Karma...Do you have road rage?

It seems like in todays world a lot of people have "road rage". Many people get very angry while driving. This is somewhat understandable because of how many people are out there that shouldn't be driving in the first place. However, I like to think that I am a considerate driver.
If I see someone with their blinker on for miles, I try to alert them of it. If a lane is closed and someone needs to get in, I stop and let them get in front of me. If someone is driving slowly, I try not to get upset. There is enough stress in everyones lives that I don't think we need to add more by being angry about people we have no control over. And I also believe that good "driving karma" can go a long way. Someday I will be (and I'm sure I have been) the bad driver in a situation, and I only hope that the other person affected is as considerate as I am. I think we all just need to slow down, appreciate life for what it is, and not spend so much time being upset.
Are you an angry driver? What is your opinion?

Getting in the car has a very therapeutic affect on me, it has the opposite affect, in that driving helps me to calm down, it relaxes me. If I am het up, frustrated then a long drive will help me see things clearly. I do talk to myself and actually find it easier to do so in the car. Other car users do not agitate me and I just shrug it off, it's their problem. You do see so much road rage nowadays it is speed, everyone has to get there quick. Roadworks and bad driving cause so much distress. But I just sit there and use the time to contemplate, think and ponder my life and to observe things others will take for granted.

Good for you! I think the world needs more people like you. I have also driven to cool down in the past, so I know how you feel. Happy driving!

It's nice to see there are still some good, curtious drivers out there. I am like you, letting people in when they have their signal light on. But I do admit I get angry when people cut me off. I was driving down a very busy street the other day and there was a parked car that pulled out right in front of me. I had to slam on my brakes. She didn't even realize what she did. She didn't even look back at me. Te sad thing is she had a small child in the back seat. If I wouldn't of been able to stop I could of really hurt her child. This did make me angry but I didn't do anything about it. What could I do?

All you can do in a situation like that is just take a deep breath and move along with your life. :) I also get upset when people cut me off. I think it's only natural. But I think I get the most angry when people do things that put their child's safety in jeopardy! I hate it when I see kids that aren't in car seats, or buckled in when they should be. They just bounce around the car and look out the back window. What if something happened? Even if these people consider themselves good drivers, you can't plan for the other people on the road. A couple weeks ago I got rear-ended out of nowhere. There was nothing I could do about it.

I am under normal conditions a curtiues driver as well,I have been a proffecional driver for many years, due to the idiots now getting licences without knowing the rules of the road, yes,I do get very angry.
Case in point, the left lane is for fast traffic,at the speed limit or up to 5 km,above,if you cannot drive fast, stay out of that lane.
if you cannot drive at,at keast the speed limit, find a route with a slower speed limit,do not go onto a road with a 100 km,speed limit and think you can drive at 90 because you are to scared to go faster.
one I realy hate are the jokers that speed up like crazy to get in front of you, then slow right down.
in my opinion, all drivers tests should be the same as military driving tests, you are only allowed three mistakes, and you can loose those three befor you get in the vehicle.you must know the signs of the country you are going to drive in and be able to understand all the signs.
if this system were used, there would be less road rage,as there would be far less people on the roads.
this of course is my opinion only.

I agree with what you said about people going too slow. I think sometimes that going slower than the speed limit probably causes more accidents than going fast. Thank you for your response.

Well, here in our country there are so many crazy drivers. There's no such thing as "road courtesy" or "right of way".
This afternoon I was cruising at a relaxed speed along a highway when all of a sudden a bunch of cars passed us at high speed. They were obviously racing each other, criss crossing all lanes recklessly. Those kind of people make my blood boil. Not only are they endangering themselves, they are also endangering the innocent people they might collide with. But I have to control myself. I just thought, "I wish they die early, 'cos our streets would be much safer without them".

I really dislike seeing stuff like that too! That's when I use the word "karma". I like to think that eventually their stupidity will catch up with them. I once had someone pass me going way faster than the speed limit, and about 10 minutes down the road I saw them pulled over and getting a speeding ticket. I had to laugh out loud with that one! Speeding didn't help them get where they were going any faster! :)
