I am deleting all on my friend's list who are only here to make a couple bucks.

It's not personal, really. It all comes down to a lack of commonality. I joined mylot to discuss and enjoy. The few dollars earned is just icing. There are too many people on my friend's list who don't share my ideals. I don't respond to many of their posts, because they simply do not interest me. If you are in it for the money, the quality of discussion is generally not great. If they do respond to my discussions, I feel a sense of emptiness when I reply to their response and never see anything in return. It's simply a matter of incompatibility. Sorry to all who get angry about this, but it seems senseless to me. Why let an incompatible relationship linger. I welcome all thoughts.

The Friends List should be just what it says ... composed of people who in some way or another are of like mind and who are already friends or are potential friends. They should have similar interests (or share an interest in a particular field) though they may not always respond to one's discussions. I invite people to my Friends List only when I have read several of their discussions and responses and feel that we are on a similar wavelength. Those who invite me to theirs, I spend some time looking at their discussions and responses and, based on that, accept or reject them.

I'm with you. If I can't find some common ground with people who request me, I'll decline. Unfortunately, in the beginning, I was concerned over hurting people's feelings so I accepted everyone. That's why I now find myself needing to weed them out.

Hi Cyn, Makes sense to me. I have a lot of friends on my list and I only get regular emails on a handful of members with discussions I feel I have some input for. And recently I have been getting spam like emails from one in particular that Im not really happy with. It was an inviation for yuwie....lmao no thank you! Been there, sat there, waited, froze, closed all open windows for no reason dont want to try it again. I deleted the PM, should have deleted the person right after, but I didnt. Im a softie.....LOL Bay Lay Gray xx

Oh Thank You Raven!! Yeah I had to get an animation shop thing to make it animate, the file I downloaded only animated on my profile page and not in comments, so I had to resize it. I got that Jasc Animation Shop 3. Its pretty cool. I had a really funny one up before. A stick figure typing at the keyboard and his arms dwindle down to nothing and he starts banging his head on the keyboard, it gets pretty bloody. But it was hilarious to watch. hehe Yeah I hate spammers too, its pretty annoying and it makes me feel like Im just a number or a piece of downline. Im glad Im not like that with people. Bay xx

Well that's what I usually do, lots of people here would request you as their friend then would start discussions that don't even interest you. The worst is, they won't even comment on your responses. I got fed up by it, so I delete those who do this. I do believe in a two-way relationship here, exchanging thoust and ideas would be fun if both parties would interact through their discussions. Other members should also be aware of this, being here on mylot is not just about MONEY..

Mmmm icing. Icing is yummy. Especially... umm never mind. :P I should go through and delete all the people who are on my list like that too one of these days. Plus all my inactives. I have such an out-of-control list, because I'm too darn nice. I know you won't delete me though. ;P

yes, icing is almost as fun and delicious as whipped cream, but I digress. I did the deletions and it really wasn't as many as I thought. I had to go through some and really look at their discussions and the quantity and the conversation factor. I only ended up ditching about 10 of them. I'm very reluctant to get rid of old friends who have been gone a while. I find myself threatening to do so all the time, but then I think that if they come back, I'll miss it.

*nods* My first friends on here I will never delete, even though some of them have said they aren't coming back. I'm just sentimental like that. :P Hehe, fun things! Sorry, I couldn't resist. :P

i think you are right and hope i am not deleted. but i fully understand as you are far more intelligent in your discussions than i could ever be. i do kind of wing it with silly subjects! no hard feelings if i am. i do apologise for my lack of resposes but i do not have e-mail set to alert and this means i go to 'discussions my friends started' to see what to respond to. hense this one!! best of luck in the future, i rate you as one of the top , honest and open mylotters.

I always accept anybody who sends me a friend request, but I have noticed that many of them have never ever responded to any of the 'discussions' I start. Granted I tend to be long-winded and have viewpoints on life that apparently not many share, but man, to have my 'friends' page cluttered with people who I never hear from makes me wonder why they sent the request to begin with! I was just sitting there a little while ago, looking at my 'friends' page thinking, delete, delete, delete, delete... but I figured I'd give it a little longer since I'm still new here, and see what happens. But I guarantee there are going to be some deletions. Then I saw this post! I'm with you all the way!

I used to accept all, but I stopped doing that. My thing is not really whether they reply to my discussions or not. It's the quality issue. I might not ever reply to a discussion about the silly thing someone's cat did, but i appreciate the time and effort put into such a topic. People who post 50 plus a day are doing this for different reasons than I am. I just see not reason to retain them.

I am thinking of doing the same thing actually....I see no point in having X amount of friends on your list when only a 1/4 of those ppls topics interest me ya know..Seems pointless and quite frankly time consuming to go through the "discussions my friends started"......Like you said though, its not personal at all..its just sensible, logical IMO...

I don't blame you, but I hope I'm not one of the "deletees"...lol I'm not in it for the money either, if I was I'd be pretty poor! I know how you feel though, you can tell that some are in it just for the money and their posts show it sometimes! I would never get angry at you, Cyntrow, and I'd still respond to your discussions when possible. I'm sorry if I fall behind on my responses but I really do my best. Annie

I would never delete you, annie. Your posts make me think. Keeps my brain charged. No, I started this discussion because of someone on my friends list who started a discussion about making over 60 dollars this month on this site. My first thought was, "they are neglecting their discussions if they are making that much." It just got me thinking about the lack of commonality. This person is here for the cash. I'm here for the conversation. Nothing in common so there is no reason to retain this person or others like them.

I'm so glad I'm still your friend, Cyn! I also saw that discussion, if it was the same one, by the person who made over $60 in a month. I should say I saw the title, I never got to the whole post but how do they do it? They'd have to be posting non-stop and not even reading what they're responding to. That's something that really annoys me when someone responds to a post and I can tell they didn't read the whole thing because what they're responding to has little or nothing to do with the original post. They read the title and MAYBE the first few words then just type whatever comes to their mind, then it's off to the next one. In my opinion they shouldn't get paid much for doing that because those aren't "quality" posts by any means. I might not get around to responding to every post and for some it takes me awhile but I read every word of the ones I post to. Anyway, I'm very happy that I'm still your friend; you make me think too and keep my fuzzy old brain somewhat active. Annie

Well I hope you don't delete me sweets! I guess I wouldn't blame you if you did since I have been on the missing list for a while! Then again we might be in laws one days so we best not snub each either now! lol I do understand what you mean though and I do know what you are saying! xxx

I agree with you 100%. While I cannot come into myLot as often as I did a few weeks ago (because of a new job...yeah!!), I still like to look for interesting discussions, and yours are always interesting or thought provoking. I have had a few new "friends" send me emails about making money online....deleted them. That is not why I am here, as I have only received one payout since I joined and have been "stuck" at under $7.00 for the past three months!!! I refuse to post garbage topics or respond to garbage topics just to make money. I do scan discussions my friends have started, but I cannot always respond to all of them. I pick the ones that peak my interest or touch me in one way or the other. PEACE

I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of the people who worries more about the money than the feelings of someone else. I feel helping someone is more important than money.

It's not really even that, space creature. It's a difference in reasoning. I'm here for conversation and enlightenting discussion. Perhaps a bit of debate. Many are here for the pennies. Them and I will never connect, so there is no point in continuing.

maybe they are just bein si practical that's why they are reall craving for bucks..just make friends with it doesn't matter if they want to earn thru mylot the most important thing is you are earning ideas and friends not enemies.
