Is There a Secret Way to Get Lots of Responses?

I know there's no single answer to this question but what are your opinions about this? Does it matter what time of day you post? Or is it the members with the most friends who consistently get the most responses? Or, maybe there are interests that just naturally attract more replies. Maybe those with the highest star ratings attract more responses because their rating leads others to assume, even if they don't know them, that they make quality posts? Or is it a simple matter of luck, of picking the topic that's the "flavor of the day" before someone else does? I'll be honest, I've posted discussions that I really thought would be well-received - not to say that everyone would agree with me but that it would be something that would get alot of attention - and it hasn't happened and I've posted others that have surprised me by getting more responses than I'd have predicted. I guess my opinion would be that there's no secret at all, it's just a hit-or-miss thing and you never really can tell what will happen. What do you think, or have I rambled so much you forgot what the question was...lol...?

Well, to be honest, you rambled on so long that I stopped reading, LOL. Sorry, but you asked. Anyway, I guess you will learn to love my honesty someday. I believe if you want the most responses in that same day, you have to post in the morning. Most people can not afford to be night owls, like you and I obviously are.
Then you start topics that people can relate to, like this one. Or another good idea is to start one that gives people a strong reaction and they will be to tempted not to put in their 2 cents, LOL.

I think time matters. A lot of mylotters are online at a certain time. Last time I was on myLot, it took only around 3 minutes to get a response and the next response around 5 minutes. Sometimes, it takes hours. So, I guess time is a factor in getting lot of responses. Friends? Maybe. I don't have a lot in my friends list but I think they'll check your discussions. If they are interested, they'll respond. So getting a lot of friends with similar interests could boost the number of responses. Interests also affects the responses of your discussions. I checked my interest in dota and all last posts were 5 months ago. Also, no one responded to my naruto discussion because there are only a few people who has an interest on it. The star rating doesn't help, I think. When looking for discussions, I look at the titles, not the one who started it or the star. Post a discussion in an interest that has a lot of mylotters and have a good title, that would bring a lot of responses.

To my expereince and observation, it is not the content but how you can really manipulate other people's mind!LoL
If you can have a huge amount of friends, let's say 500 of them are all active and are eager to respond to your posts then most probably you're post will attract other posters too. There's also those who are good in recruiting others to sign under your name and be your referral, they will most likely be under your control!;)
Lastly, the you scratch my back I'll scratch your's as well, relationship. You respond to me, I'll respond to you!;)

I am not sure if there is any secret about having a lot of responses to your discussions. i though at first that the secrte would be to have a lot of friends here, but i am not sure it works. Also you can have a lot of friends, but so many leave and are not active anymore. I have seen people having 100 responses to their discussions and they look like they are pretty popular here. So maybe it depends also how long time you are here.

i havent found a secret way to make responses but i just respond when i found a discussion interesting to me.again, its just hit or miss thing.

yup it's almost like that but it matters too that you're "notify on" in your friends' list and that you post great discussions :-)

I have found that, When you post about cats or dogs (animals) you get alot of responses.. No I don't believe there is a certain time of day to post.. Alot of people have moved from this site though to other sites.. But some like me lol come back to see what my friends have to say.. I do admit I have been here on and off sense I started here..

There really is no secret, anniepa. Some topics just appeal to more people on any given day. I've found myself in the position of posting what I thought were noteworthy discussions only to have them almost completely ignored. There have been times when the opposite has occurred. I still try to strive for quality discussions most of the tiem, with an occasional frivolous topic thrown in.
