what is the progress in search for water in Mars in US?

The lasting I remember is the robot they send in Mars is a failure,because they lost contact when it land in Mars...

im not sure about the progress in mars, but i know that china will be launching a rocket to moon soon. right now they have sent a rocket to circumnavigate the moon.
