What is difference between a house and a home?

HOUSE - merely a conglomeration of wood, cement and other materials for shelter. HOME - HOUSE + love + care + understanding + family

yeh i agree with you a home is the palce where lots of happiness and sadness lives, it is made up of the member of the family..A home is always there through ups and downs..But a house is made up of material things..All house cant be consider a home..

i agree. a house is only the "physical" place where people lives. a house is made up of the roof, the wall, door, windows, and everything. meanwhile, a home is where a family lives. a house is considered a home if each member of the family is happy living there, if each member seeks refuge there if they have a problem, if it brings comfort and convenience to everybody, if it is filled with love. ^__^ all homes can be considered houses, but not all houses can be considered as homes. ^__^

I agree that a house is an object made out of materials and that a HOME is somewhere where you can go at the end of your hard day, kick off your shoes and relax. A home is comfort.

hI!For me when we say house i just picture it is just a material a place aman stay for shelter but when we say home it has weight and meaningful i could say that a place where family stays together happily where their is mutual understand among the people living in that place.

i definitelay agree with you. a house is just a building with all the trimmings that comes with it. a home is something that you build. you have to work hard to turn a house into a home. you have to nurture the people that surround you. respect them love them care for them.be there for each other. give it a honest warmth. when you not home you must long for it. a home dont need to consist out of family you can build a home with friends. a home breaks up when you not comunicating any more.its bad when a home breaks up.because then u wont have the same faith to built that home up again

it is said in a song " when i think of home, i think of a place where love overflowing" very simple and very true. a house is not a home when theres no one there. it is als o said that a chair is still a chair even there's no one sitting there. but a house is not a home if no ones there. its like this house is for sale.... it will turn into a home when you buy it. well we have small house but a comfy home to call.

Come to think of it, we don't even have a house, because our home is a condominium apartment where the building is shared with other people. It is a wonderful home, not the least because we don't have to cut the grass or paint or wash the outdoor windows. Yes, the word "homey" means cozy and comfortable and that is what a home is supposed to be whether it is in a house, a houseboat, a yurt, a trailer, or whatever. Decency helps.
