"Green Eggs And Ham"

I live in a board and care where we have a cook. On Sundays, we have brunch. Today for brunch we had waffles, sausages, green eggs, and bananas and lemonade. No, you are not seeing things. I meant green eggs. The first time we had those, I was amazed. I never really knew there was a such thing. But, lo and behold, there were green scrambled eggs on my tray. I ate around the green, the first time, but this time, I wasn't going there. No eggs for me thank you. I will not tell you the nationality of the cook, but he does not understand that we do not eat green eggs in America. I looked it up once, I wanted to know what made them turn that color. It said something about them being refrigarated them left out, or cooked to slow or something like that. All I know is they are not suppose to be that color. Now, do you want to take a wild guess at what we're having for dinner, ham, you guessed it. Not just any ham, but the processed kind. Oh hum, nooot. I really don't like ham at all. But, I can eat Honey Baked sometime. But the stuff they give us here is just a pink, greasy, salty, mess. I'm going to Burger King, next door. I have learned to budget my money for days like these. The worst thing here is the Turkey Loaf. The last time I ate it, I threw up so violently, that I peed on myself, in my friends room. Now, I can not stand the sight or the smell of it. I can not wait to get my own apartment, so I can start cooking for myself again. I am no chef, but even I can do better than the crap they serve us here. Don't get me wrong, I thank God for feeding me in the wilderness and I hate to complain, because that will keep me here longer. But, Lord have mercy. I have been eating this stuff for 2 years and it's not getting much better.

No, you don't want to try this. They are regular eggs. They are not suppose to be green.

I would hope that they don't think that mold coloring on eggs would make them tastier.

sorry for laughingso hard had tears on my cheeks. wonder where cookie gets his supplies from doesn't sound good too me either for i'd never eat green eggs myself. could stand to loose some weight myself anyway and would too if i had seen green scrambled eggs on my plate. wonder if the chickens are getting into something that they shouldn't be giving them their funny colour or even if they are chicken eggs at all. never seen an emu egg myself or an ostrich could they be green sorry just letting my imagination get away from me here. thanks for the laugh and sorry you are the one suffering over it. please maybe you could skip afew of the meals at the greasy spoons there and save up your money quicker to get your own place and the best of luck to you...

I have seen eggs turn green from being cooked in a copper pan or sitting too long. Also when a person cooks a large batch of eggs, like in a boarding house or at summer camp, the scrambled eggs may turn green. The color change is harmless. It is due to a chemical change brought on by heat and occurs when the eggs are cooked at too high a temperature, held for too long, or both. If it is necessary to hold scrambled eggs for a short time before serving, it helps to avoid direct heat. Place a pan of hot water between the pan of eggs and the heat source. Maybe the cook just doesn't realize that he is cooking the eggs at too high a temperature. Maybe you could suggest that the eggs be cooked in smaller batches at a lower temperature to keep them from turning a wierd color. I have seen greenish eggs mixes in with normal eggs at brunches and breakfast buffets. It never seemed to bother anyone or taste different.

I know that they won't kill me, but they just look so gross. They can't cook in smaller batches. There are 140 people and a lot of them get ugly when there are no seconds.

We do complain and they complain about our complaining and nothing gets done. You never read the book Green Eggs and Ham when you were little. It was one of my favorites, but back then, I thought it was make believe.

had to come back and give you another possible explanation found a site that said something to the effect that cooking eggs in an aluminum pan will turn eggs green from the heat and the effect of the metal... so who knew lol...

Does it remind you where in the Bible the children if Israel complain to God about the manna, and only manna, they are given? LOL, I have to say though, manna sounds a heck of a lot better than GREEN eggs! From the explanation of how they get green, I have to question if that is even healthy!

I hope I do not have to eat that crap for Thanksgiving. Maybe, my family will have mercy on me and pick me up this year. Although, for some strange reason, they usually don't. Anyway, they ended up not making the ham. They said it was too close to Thanksgiving. That means that is what they will be serving. I still ain't gonna eat it, yuck!!!!!

i think if the man want to keep health, 2 points is very importan; one is the food balance, the other is doing excerise. For the food balance, you should try the different food, not only concertate one kind of food. In this way, you can get the nutrution balance from the food.
