Every Thanksgiving we are invited to a friend's house for an excellent dinner. I can't describe her cooking skills. I(we) have never eaten food this delicious and can't wait for the holidays to get here each year. She makes sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes to die for. Any myLotters have a friend or relative who can cook up a storm and make you walk away so full you feel like you're going to explode? http://hubpages.com/hub/Sweet_potato_casserole_recipe

My mom makes so much food, you could burst, during the holidays. And Let me say, IT IS AMAZING. you will not leave the house until you've gained 10 pounds unfortunately though. And i always do, i just can't help myself. :)

Well we used to go to my father-in-laws which was nice. He is not a bad cook and we were always full which was nice. However...now I do the holiday cooking...and I think I am an excellent cook....

I don't have a cooking talent. It was a matter of survival when our kids were younger. Thanks for responding.

My grandma's cooking is the best. I will definitely miss her homemade chicken and noodles. I make them, too, but it's just not the same. Must be the love she puts into everything she cooks. And she can make the best pies in the WORLD! She actually sells her pies to help with her income, and she's 83 years old! Man, I'm really gonna miss her this year. :(

Hi carolbee! My friend's mother is really an expert in cooking. She doesn't measure her ingredients at all and determines the taste just by the smelling what she's cooking. Too bad she passed away already. But i'm lucky to have learned one recipe from her before and i really treasure it until now because my family loves eating that dish. Maybe you can try cooking yourself those dishes that she cooks. Practice makes perfect and who knows you'll be able to cook up a storm too like she does. That way, you and your family won't have to wait for the holidays just to feast on those foods.
