I'm so forgetful....are you?

I'm always putting things where I know I'll remember where they're at. Well when I go to look for what I put up in a place I knew I could find it....I can't seem to find it. I'm always misplacing things. It seems like if I'm not looking for something I know exactly where it's at. If I'm looking for it I have to tear the house upside down looking for it. I think my memory has gotten even worse since I had a baby. Does anyone else forget simple little things like this? If so how do you deal with it? Do you make notes and stick them in a special place that tells you where everything is at? That's a good idea...if I don't forget. LOL.

My memory has gotten worse after having my baby, but I don't miss place to many everyday things. I have a certain place for my keys, cell phone and purse and keeping them there really helps. And for tasks I keep a calendar near the laptop to look at before I go out for the day and that helps a lot too. But I have noticed that i've been 'putting away' a lot of semi important documents away and I just can't remember were they are. I have not having my memory like it was.

That's the way I am. I have a certain place for my keys, phone, purse....all of the important every day things. I normally buy things early for a birthday and put it up so it won't be in the way and that's what I misplace. I'm keeping all of the stuff that I bought for Christmas in the open so I don't forget where I put it...lol. Have a great day.

I usually have one place for all the Christmas gifts. It gets pretty messy by the end, but it's so worth it! I've been known to misplace gifts and ended up having to buy something else in a rush...and then find what I misplaced right after Christmas. Talk about ironic!

I have the same problem. I am very forgetful now a days. I blame it on my increase in age and my kids, stress or whatever but myself. I believe it is me though. I don't exercise my mind, at least that is what a friend told me. She said that we have to constantly stay alert, meaning we have to do some math or recollect some old memories and yes take notes. Take Ginkgo biloba pills. One time I placed my car keys in the fridge and went all over the house looking for them. I set the keys down while I was getting juice for my daughter and the phone rang. That was just too much for me to juggle.

LOL. I do the same thing sometimes. I will be doing two things at once and put something silly in the refrigerator but I have always caught myself. At least I can laugh at myself when I do something silly like that. I have a hard time with taking pills because if they're not right in front of me I forget to take them. Maybe I will get some and put them on my computer desk so that way I see them everyday. Have a great day.

Yup, we only have a one bedroomed flat but it is like the Bermuda Triangle. Put something down and it is lost forever. Sometimes we even lose Gissi - you may know him from other posts - because he tucks himself away behind or under something and then when it is home time there is a general round up. I am a writer and I can remember everything about the books I am trying to write and sell but if somebody telephones me I have to write down the details of the call immediately or I totally forget that someone rang at all. We have a special book and then when my partner arrives home he can check for messages. I have to write down all sorts of things because my brain just will not retain them. You may find that as your body recovers and the hormones balance themselves after the birth that your memory will improve again. However, it may be the distraction of having a lovely baby and if that is the case your memory really will get worse when little darling learns to walk lol. With regard to memory I read that an action becomes habit after six weeks of persistently repeating the action. For example, if you get really tough with yourself and put your keys on the same hook every time for six weeks, eventually you will put them on that hook without even thinking about it. Then you can move on to something else. I found that worked for me, but it doesn't work if your Partner moves things about. Also, if I have something I absolutely must remember I take a sheet of paper and write the reminder in big letters and tape it to the net curtain on my front door, so that I can not leave home without doing whatever it is that is so important. I hope some of that helps.

I think it happens to a lot of us. There are some days it is a lot worse than others. I find sometimes it could be Best to make notes of what I need to do, and accomplish, otherwise I would misplace my head. I guess it is just a part of nature and life.

I know I do, but I blame it on the multitude of things I'm trying to do at the same time! The things that I used to remember real well, and now have trouble with are; grocery list--if I have more than three items, I have to make a list! telephone numbers--ever since they came out with cell phones, I can't remember a single phone number! except my own! numbers--since my part-time job requires me to deal with a lot of numbers, I have to make a list of the numbers that I need to remember! Stick 'em notes right here on my computer helps me remember a lot of important things that I need to remember!

You're not alone out there. I am also a person who can easily forget things. Sometimes after I done something, I always thought I may have forgotten something and can't remember at all. I have a short term memory where I can easily not remember. My wife although very tired to let me at all times but I really need her to remind me of something. I try to make a note and stick it on place where I can easily see and never forgot...like putting a note on windows desktop. I've been taking medication to improve memory...I ate ginko biloba tablets. This helps me although it takes some time depending on person's capability.

Yes. I am forgetful at times. Mainly the credit card due dates. I had to pay the late fee charges many a times. I put a reminder starting from 2 days before and by the time the actual day comes I cancel the reminder. It is funny but it happened with me twice. I am really very forgetful.

I forgot that but I do this too...lol. I will go in another room for something and go and sit back down. After I sit down I'm like why did I go in there, then I remember I went in there to do something and I forgot when I got in there. How funny. Have a great day.

Recently, i started to become forgetful. Sometimes i have to quench my head to remember a thing i was about to get. It really just very hard for me to remember. Sometimes i even think i have alzheimer. This is some kind of cognitive deterioration from which we become less active that make me prone to behavioral changes. SO i have to write down everything i have to do. If not everything is forgoten. Sometimes it just at the tip of my tongue, yet i just can't say it. oh, how time flies. I miss those jolly moments duing my younger years when i was still so clever and witty. Now, though wiser, i seldom forget good things i have to do. Thanks for this topic. more power.

OH yes!!!!! I"m usually thinking about so many things at the same times that I keep forgetting this and that.Misplacing things is so normal I don't even get surprised anymore LOL I usually am better when I"m on holidays - less thinking about too many things at the same time:) - but once they're over back to my forgetful self . I used to write notes to remind me of what I needed to do but I would forget all about the notes as well - even when they were right in front of me LOL

It happens to me too. SOmetimes I feel like getting senile at 38. Sometimes I forget where I put things. Worst one time I forgot ask for a loan from a bank and forgot about it and wonder why I'm paying something extra. I need to focus more than before and had to really put extra thoughts for those important task or events, otherwise I just forget.
