Hi Cupid.
I just use two (2) point fingers only. And sometimes with both index fingers and both my thumbs for 'space bar'. I am not a keyboard flying fingers and I feel very comfortable with current method and application.
With low error rate and moderate typing speed, about 50 words per minute...not bad!!!
HAPPY DAPPY.

Dear Sara
u r right, key positioning is same and sure the differnce is that in typre writer u have to punch the key hard(unless its electronic typewriter) and bear strong sound, and if u make mistake u need eraser or correcting fluid. in case of computer key board, its smooth, easy going and silky touch
take care

You just have to practise, practise and practise! :P
For me, I didn't learn typing through any "formal" ways too. I just picked up typing myself over the years. And I think I type decently fast and not only that, I can type without looking at the keyboard.
Half the time, I like to just type with my eyes closed. It is quite relaxing - imagine you lying back on your chair and just typing out your thoughts with your eyes closed.
If you are keen to learn how to type and without paying, just search online. I have come across some free typing courses. And no, I didn't go through them because my way of typing is too ingrained in me already. It is hard to change my way of typing for any supposedly more orthodox way. :P

Hi Lord
nice to have your response
u r very right PRACTICE MAKES MAN PERFECT.
and the way u r expressing ur typing habit, sound greats as u close ur eyes and just type ur mind on computer great
what i do, i just stare at key board and dont see at screen, LOL
i hhave typing tutor at my PC but i try 2 days with both hands, it was slow error rate was high, then i try to do the test/practice with my way that is one hand and i did OK, so i said OK and leave typing tutor, LOl

I am not really a typist. Although I am using my both hands, i only uses one fingers in each. lol I dunno also my speed. But I noticed, i am faster when I have thoughts in mind that I wanted to share. Or if I am so eager to posts my replies to topics i am so interested to - like this one.

I type about 68 words per minute, with very minimal mistakes. I never look at the keyboard and can type in the dark, without looking, and while watching TV. I never "learned" to type, but its more like something that just happened. I type with both hands, and its pretty natural. I type a lot faster than I write, and roughly at the same speed at which I think which is perfect for me.

hi cupid,
I am typing with both hands and I am that very fast but not too slow also..I memorized some of the letters and made me have a very little percentage of having an error...But, I am not observing proper fingering!

i'm glad i took up typing in school. i learnt how to type with both hands. most importantly, i learnt to type without looking at the keyboard. the fastest i've managed is about 70 words per minute. that's good enough for me and definitely helps when i post on mylot. my error rate is pretty low though sometimes my mind goes faster than what my hands can type. so i'll miss a word here and misspell a word there. ;p

thanks so much for your kind compliments. i sure am blushing now.
i won't call my posts flawless. i do make mistakes sometimes. but it's impossible to change them once i've posted them. when i read back i'll be slapping my forehead in exasperation. i do try to proofread what i've typed before hitting the 'post comment' button.
you take care too

I had learnt typing at the age of five. And my foster father was very particular that I used the right fingers for typing. So you could say my typing speed is very good though I have not checked my speed for the past twenty years. And I just love typing so am ready to sit on a typewriter or computer for any number of hours and type. That is why I think I am enjoying myself here on mylot.

Hmmmmmm
how can we doubt on perfectionist, learning typing at age of 5 means , its now inbuilt in ur system, u neither need to see at key board or at monitor to see what u t typing as ur fingers must be confident about that
Enjoy Mylotting and stay in touch
One question, u might have seen Typre writers transforming to electronic and then to Computer, so how u feel

Yes typing is almost inbuilt now. And I just enjoy typing. Have seen a lot of changes in the typewriter now. But now I have got so used to the computer that I just cannot type on a manual typewriter. I had tried a couple of years back and it took me very long to type.
