I would actually like to try quilting, but just can't fit it into my schedule with all the other creative stuff I do. Maybe some day I will try and do it.

I understand what you mean as I also do scrapbooking and crocheting.
Each craft takes time ... and I like to read too....

I like quilts. The making of a quilt is something that I don't like so much. They do make wonderful heirlooms. My kids wouldn't dream of giving up the quilts made by their deceased grandma. They treasure those quilts more than I would have ever dreamed possible. These quilts aren't loved for their beauty as they as simple quilts but because of where they came from. If you like to make quilts, I think it is a way to leave a little of yourself and make the world a little nicer when you pass on.

I'm glad to hear your kids treasure the quilts made by their grandmother.
I think it is great.
I think I appreciate them more now than before... and even more since I'm trying my hand at quilting... LOL

I hope you do. You will get hooked ... at least I did.
Do you have any experience sewing? You don't have to, of course, I was just wondering.
I have a few pics of a crazy quilt of my great grandmother on my blog

I started working on a patchwork quilt earlier this year. I've got the quilt top done, but I need to get fabric for backing and batting to finish it. I've been unable to so far. When it's done, I hope to give it to my son for his bed. He was fascinated by all of the colors when I was working on the top, so I think he'd love the quilt itself. He also loves nice heavy blankets, and quilts are generally heavy, so that would be good, too.

Crazy quilts have me very intrigued, but I have yet to try one. I love the log cabin pattern, but I must be doing something wrong...my squares don't want to match up in size! I am following the directions exactly too...oh well, I'll get it eventually.
I love scrap quilting too.
There is something very relaxing and calming about sewing quilt tops, isn't there?
I've begun creating tote bags from quilt squares that just don't seem to work out. I've made a few totes from simply scraps too. There isn't any rhyme or reason to them, but that's why I like them. :)
Enjoy your quilting!

That is for sure! My grandma used to make them all the time; she's probably easily made more than 50 of them. She loved doing that; her eyes have gotten pretty bad now, so she can't do them anymore. I've done a few myself. I was always asking her to teach me how to make one, so she helped me make a 4-patch quilt. I also made a picture quilt for my hubby (he was my boyfriend at the time) for our first valentine's day. I've also made a few rag quilts for my twins & a friend's baby. They are absolutely adorable, and super easy to make.

I love to quilt! I've only made a few, but they are very rewarding. I'm just finishing up a baby quilt that I'm making for my brand new baby nephew. I was going to give it to him when he was born, but didn't get it done, so I think I'll give it to him for a Christmas present...
I've made big quilts, little quilts, rag quilts and the ones that you tie together. They are all fun to make!

I love quilts and I wish I had the time because I'd really like to try making quilts. My grandmother made quilts years ago and I remember sitting with her while she made them and thinking that I'd love to learn how.
All of her quilts were destroyed by a flooded basement many years ago, but somewhere I have a couple old pictures of a few of her favorites.
Hopefully one day, I can find the time to learn this craft.

My aunt does allot of quilting, she doesn't have the free time for them much now. But I to think I may start to make some quilts, I find that they would be very fun to do. I have always been interested in making them.

My mother is 83 years old and has made many beautiful quilts. I am not very good myself and I failed to get her to teach me how to sew or make quilts. I had other things to do. Oh how I wish I had learned from her in the day. Now, I am trying to learn and it is hard. I am tieing a quilt now instead of quilting it. At least I am using a needle. I hope to make some more quilts.
