A lot of the things I got are from the small town junk days. People put things they don't want like furniture and lamps and TVs and that on the side of the road for spring cleaning. I couldn't believe one year I found an old cast iron white sewing machine with the original sewing desk that the machine dropped into on the side of the road. The sewing machine looked like new no rust at all. It just needed a new cord, and the sewing desk I striped down and refinished, It's beautiful and didn't cost me a thing. It's amazing what people will throw out. I feel silly doing it but I'm not about to let treasures like that go to waste.

Yes, I love antiques and own some furniture, odds and end pieces and at least 12 antique chiming and bonging clocks! None of my furniture is refinished though. Some of what I have: a bowed front china cabinet, 2 smoker's stands (I use for lamps), a hand carved dry sink with pitcher, bowl and chamber pot, bedroom set, end tables, 3 bow front curios, etc.

These look like little cabinets and yes, one is lined with copper but I think the other is lined with cedar...I'd have to look to be sure. LOL. I have them in two of our bathrooms to hold a tiny lamp (as a nightlight) and use the inside to store extra rolls of toilet paper. :)

My grandmother collected antiques. She recently passed away this summer, and I inherited a whole bunch of them. Shaving mugs, about thirty antique clocks, a doughbox, an old grain bin. A curio cabinet looking thing that I am trying to refinish, some blue and gray enamelware, and some other odds and ends pieces of furniture that I have not been able to find in any books. They look nice in my house, but I am on overload and am actually trying to sell some of it, especially the clocks. They are pretty fun to research though.

Oh yeah. I watch all the antique shows just hoping that someone will bring something in that's been laying around my house. I've got a few antiques, but not many and thanks to all those antique shows, people are beginning to know that their stuff is worth more than the few dollars they were going to sell it for at their yard sale.

Very observant of you, prompwriter. There are some persons who do not know the value of those old furnitures.

I share with you this love for antiques. I hardly have any as my sister prefers to keep all the antiques my mother and father have had. The only one I bought from a store is a book of poems. I know that this is sad enough for an antique lover but this is something which is beyond my control. I am really eyeing at that antique Bible above all my parents' collections, but there is no hope I can ever have it with me.

I love antiques. I don't collect any one thing. I do love pretty dishes. Anything pretty, dainty or elegant looking. Like the EAPG, I have all sorts of books on them and love to hunt for great bargains. One day I'll own some really pretty stuff but for now I'm just enjoying looking and learning about them.
