twas the night of thanksgiving,
but i just couldn't sleep
i tried counting backwards,
i tried counting sheep.
the leftovers beckoned -
the dark meat and white
but i fought the temptation
with all of my might
tossing and turning with anticipation
the thought of a snack became infatuation.
so, i raced to the kitchen, flung open the door
and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.
gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
i felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
'til all of a sudden, i rose off the ground.
i crashed through the ceiling,
floating into the sky
with a mouthful of pudding
and a handful of pie.
but, i managed to yell as i soared
past the trees....
happy eating to all - pass the
cranberries, please.
may your stuffing be tasty,
may your turkey be plump.
may your potatoes 'n gravy
have nary a lump,
may your yams be delicious may your pies
take the prize,
may your thanksgiving dinner stay
off of your thighs.
may your thanksgiving be blessed!!

Just think though some women spend several days before Thanksgiving Day starting preparations and food and spend most the day on Thanksgiving Day running around trying to get things done on time for the dinner. And then there is the clean up. So really sometimes it might even out the calories consummed and the calories burned. It is the leftovers that get you as you stated in your poem..lol But mmmm..it's just to good to pass up on those leftovers. Leftovers seem to be even better atleast in my own opinion anyhow. Happy Thanksgiving everyone may your day be blessed with yours and your family's health and that people can spend one day together without fighting(except over who gets a leg) and have a joyous occasion.

I hope that your Thanksgiving was a good one. Mine was okay,I was tired though from all that cooking and so I didn't get to put up my tree like I usually do on Thanksgiving night I even had my little sister spend the night to help but she was to sleepy. I now have the tree up I just haven't dressed it up yet because I can't decide how to do it this year. Maybe I will finish it tomorrow. Well, I hope you have a blessed holiday this year. Happy Holidays and tons of gifts and Hugs!

That is an excellent parody of 'Twas THE Night Before Christmas, hoghoney! I really love that poem. I had to learn it in elementary school and have never forgotten it.
