Too many people I know are already depressed for the holidays. Dont fall into the same bottomless pit. People are so much happier when you interact happy. Im going to stay in a good mood for the holidays this year for ME. Side affect is a happy family. I may be here writing down what bothers me. Better than holding it in. If anyone that reads this wants to add a problem then go for it. Just write it down and see that you feel better. Ok I have a son inlaw that bothers me. Too many bills to. Your turn.

The Holiday season has always been one of my favorite, and even though i feel like i should be unhappy considering the circumstances, i cannot feel nothing but happiness. I cannot wait until i get to see the lights on people's houses again.

holidays are always there. we can't stop them from coming. and so, most of us end up worrying too much. i admit, i am one of those worriful persons around.
but you are right dbmax. it's better for me to calm down and stay happy. the reason for holidays is for us to be happy and not to be feeling down and depressed.
thing is, i don't really have money now since i don't work now. i am studying a new language which will benefit me a lot in the near future. thinking about it, i am glad that i started studying a new language. i might not have money now but i can still have a work in the future.

Wow those are some good ideas to help with depression. I generally get depressed at Christmas. It reminds of a whole bunch of bad family stuff.
Okay: Too many bills and no job.

yup. me, too. no job. but let's try not to be depressed and be wrinkle free. let's just smile about it. or better yet, laugh about it. i am sure that our loved ones will understand our situation.

I'm sure they will understand the situation. I've got a part-time position for December so I'll be okay. I just got a call for an interview about 30 minutes ago. I also got an email about a part-time position handing out newspapers. Its very simple but it would be money.
Good luck to you

I kind of like holidays too. The only holiday problem i got now is that it doesn't last as long as before cos i have to work now. We can go shopping, taking sports, staying with family and other things we wanna do, how great is that! If i must pick something that bothers me now, i would say money and job stuff. Hope things will getter better and better. Cheer up!!!

I always have a problem with the christmas holidays. I always get depressed. I find it is too commercialized. It has gotten to what you can buy for who ever. Also I have hated christmas because when our family gets together for dinner there is always a fight. Everyone gets too drunk and then it never fails, my father usually always starts the fight. Well this year my father has passed away and now I don't think we will have any more fights. So I'm being optomistic about christmas this year. Maybe we can have an enjoyable dinner with no fighting.

Sorry to hear about dad. Christmas is very materialistic. I wish we could do what they did in the pioneer days and have everyone make gifts. Failure to resolve conflicts-Thats what my anger control counselor told me some years back after going to jail for fighting with my brother and cousin. LOL We grew up and we all get along these days. In fact none of us drink anymore either. But I still worry that my family will be depressed over the holidays. Money is usually the reason.

Thanks, but don't be sorry about my dad. He was a very mean drunk. Now that he's gone we should have a very peaceful christmas since he was the one that always started the fight.

I'm basically a very depressed person and take a lot of medication for it. Since my Dad passed away 19 years ago my whole family has gone down hill! My daughter is having a lot of problems since she just broke up with her abusive ex of 20+ years and I'm basically the only help she has. I'm on social security and working one day a week to help ends meet. My mother has been very ill and isn't doing well. There is so much stuff going on but I have sworn that this year is going to be different and nothing is going to get to me or anyone I know. I even have my Christmas tree up and decorated all ready!!! It's good to get things out in the open and then just forget about them and get on with the job of living. Have a good one!

Yes get your problems out. This site is great for that. I have gotten great advise here. Hope your mom gets better soon. The christmas decorations is a good start. Im putting mine up early this year. Abusive ex son in law? That must be hard on her. Tell her to smile at herself in the bathroom mirror. I do it often. Ya sounds odd but it works. Im just happy to be with my family this year for the holidays. I work both turkey and christmas but I'll be with them in the evening. Have a good smile and turkey day!!

I know I was Scrooging up until today, which is really hard to do, since my best friend is what I call the 'crazy Christmas lady'. But I went to Sam's, just to get some grocery items, and I walked through all the Christmas stuff, and I came out on the Christmas bandwagon. It really does suck for my family when I am grouchy during the holidays. I don't really have any problems, now, except, of course, not much money, as usual. I moved 1100 miles away from most of my stress for the holidays (my family). lol.

Really? In opinion, the holiday can bring me much joy.I am very exciting when a holiday is comimg. It means that I can go to somewhere i haven't been to for a wonderful travel with my best friends or have a pretty invitation going back to my hometown.I really can't think about something which bother me.It's a great thing to have a holday after you are experiencing busy, bald, tired working time.
