I don't normally fix them myself, But I love LOW Country Shrimp and Grits. I have a favorite restruant here in town that has to make the best! I am sure somewhere you can find a recipe for them. It's got ham, sausage, onions, Lots of cheese and Shrimp in it. GREAT TASTING!

Well, I don't really know any ways to cook them differently although I do occasionally put something in the water I'm cooking them in to add flavor. Pepper, garlic, cayenne pepper for example. Usually when I make grits I'm all about the salt, pepper and butter -- pretty basic, I know. Sometimes I make gravy with bacon or sausage drippings and stir it into the grits before I serve them, which goes over pretty well. I've also stirred in a bit of cheddar cheese after they were cooked.

Grits are pretty versatile. My favorite way of eating them is with salt, butter and cheese stirred into them while they're hot. Brown gravy is good over them, too. Or make a pan, turn it into a greased loaf pan and chill it, then slice and fry it, serve like pancakes.
I wrote an article on Associated Content called "Who Needs Elegance When You've Got Grits?" If I post the link, I may lose earnings here, but you can look it up there.

I just cook grits up, and add, butter, sugar & milk to mine. Kinda reminds me of cream of wheat cereal. Grits make a good snack.
