I'm about to reveal a dumb blonde moment here...LOL
This actually happened a few years ago. On and off in one of my major newspapers, The Daily News, they've had those daily scratch off money winning game cards. The idea is that on Sunday you got your new "card" with scratch off numbers that you could scratch off each day when the new winning numbers were posted.
So one day, I'm scratching off the numbers for that day. My jaw dropped! I had to do double takes to believe what I was seeing. I had won $100,000!! I scared the heck out of my then living mother, not to mention my kitties, as I'm literally screaming on top of my lungs....I won...I won..I won $100,000!!
Already the wheels were clicking of how I would spend that money..at that time I didn't have my computer..so thinking, gee, I could get it now..I could get this,..that..heck, I could move!
So then I read the fine print rules on how to claim the money..it said it needed photo-copies of any pertinent ID like Social Security card...blah, blah, blah. So next day with a REAL spring to my step actually think I was floating..LOL..I went to get all this ID stuff photo-copied.
Now I'm home gathering all the papers to mail in my winning card.
And then........
I noticed something. Oh, yes, the numbers I had scratched off were the right ones..EXCEPT..I had scratched it them the WRONG DAY...LOL
Okay, you're probably laughing hysterically here. But can you imagine how I felt..here I was..SO close to winning a lot of money, but because I goofed I hadn't--Believe it or not I still have that card two years later, to remind me how close I came to winning a lot of money if it just hadn't been for my dumb mistake.
Okay, bone up folks..have YOU ever thought you won a lot of money, but did something as dumb as I did? Like scratch off the right numbers, but the wrong day or something close to it?

lmao well thats pretty good there pye, but yes i have had a time like that as well.one of my friends have bought me a scratch off ticket for one of my birthdays, well i sat there scratching away and i was getting excitied by the moment because i had the symbols to match.i ended up scratching it all off and i couldn't believe my eyes that i have scratch off 3 10,000 dollar symbols. i sat there just staring at the card for a few minutes and then it kicked in that i have just won 10,000. so i screamed and was so happy jumping up and down like a little kid and all. then about 1 hour later when i said i was gonna go and take the ticket to the store,my friend told me it was a fake ticket and that i didn't win.i was so upset and mad about that.hours later i just laughed about the whole thing.it would of been real nice but i have to say it was a great gag gift.pattie

Oh man Pye!! Ive been there. My hubby fell out of bed laughing at me so hard. lol
I dont remember what or how I was confused but I thought I had one 1,000 off a scratch off. I wish I could remember the details, but I was way off, and felt so stupid! I mean a grand aint all that much, but still it would have been nice! Hubby was laughing so hard he couldnt tell me what I had done wrong. Luckily I was able to laugh at myself too. It was a really dumb mistake.

I have not won any money till now. I have tried quite a few times buying lottery tickets and other draws. But have not won anything yet. I wish I win a lottery and then I can do what I dream of. Charity is a priority when I win a huge amount. Hope one day I too would win.

Those scratch tickets seem so complicated. I don't play them. I just do the regular lottery where you buy the tickets with the numbers of your choice then watch the draw on TV to see if you've won.
Anyway I'm not very lucky either. The most prize I've ever won was $110 in a casino. That's it. I was already very happy to win that. LOL

Oh yes, pyewacket, I know that feeling very well! A couple of years ago I got a phone call announcing that I had won a lottery for a considerable sum of money. They said they had picked me from a site I had visited on the internet. I figured this couldn't be crooked since they actually contacted me by phone. They gave me the winning numbers and everything. They then told me they would be getting in touch with me later. Well, I waited and waited. They never got back to me. All of my hopes and dreams were slowly dashed. I talked to someone at the BBB who told me it was a scam.

Aww--that's a shame. Yes I would think it was legitimate since they called you--good thing you contacted the BBB

Hi pyewacket! That was funny! Sorry, was really laughing here while I was reading your bloopers. However, I have not experienced such thing and if ever that happened to me I think my knees will go weak on me and I might not be able to eat for several days. Good thing it never happened to me because I might not be even able to know I was mistaken because I already had a heart attack. haha.. Take care and have a nice day. :)

Aww thats funny, but you must have been so disappointed! My dad used to buy me & my sister those scratch off tickets when we were young and once I scratched one off and won $100, my dad took it and looked it over and said "no you didn't...you won $200!!" I was so happy to be wrong! =D

Hey pw,
I just did something similar to that a couple weeks ago-we were REALLY broke & I went in the store to pay for gas so I decided to get a scratch off card for $1.00 w/ a dream that I could be the lucky one to win $5,000 well on the scratch I won $1.00 so I took it back in the store for a second drove away & later on scratched that one to reveal another $1.00 so the next time I was in a different store I traded it in for another. After I scratched off the 3rd ticket it looked like I had won $5.00 I was a bit happy about that small amount lol anyway,I was gonna take that one in the store for exchange & just before I did I took a second look at it & it was in fact not a winner.I'm glad I looked before I went in the store that would have been very embarrasing

OMG, I can just imagine how you felt! About a year ago my husband had a PA Lottery Cash 5 ticket. It starts at a $100,000 jackpot but it grows if there are not winners so on this particular evening it was $800,000. He watched the drawing on the TV and he had the first number, the second, third and fourth...then the fifth number was 33 and he had 35! We did win about $200 for four numbers and that's certainly better than nothing but so darn close... Would that ever have been nice!

As much as I would love to say it, I haven't won anything ever in my life. Cash anyways. I do, on occassion, win merchandise but since I can't use em to pay a bill, I don't consider it winning. lol

Hehe..I actually have better luck finding money on the street than winning those lotto things. Once found a twenty dollar bill on the street.

I don't very often get involved in games of this sort since I believe they are rigged for the most part. I follow the principal that you never get something for nothing. I am not a gambler at all, I seldom even buy lottery tickets. I have never been to a casino and don't plan on going to one anytime soon. I have seen people destroyed by gambling and I have no desire to fall into that trap.

If I buy lotto tickets twice a year that's a lot..but these were freebie card things in the newspaper. I've never been in a casino and they don't have any appeal to me either.
