I choose my friends if I personally know them or when I have talked to them for quite a while.
I don't just go add invites from random people because I believe that it's not about the number of people you have on your friends list but the number of friends that you want stay in touch with.

Most of my friends in friendster are either family, former classmates, co-workers, relatives, childhood friends and long lost friends. Mostly people I really know in person. There are few that I've only met in friendster and most of them either invited me first, or a friend of my friend or a friend of my family and relatives. So in short, friendster is my connection to the people I already know. It's a way for me to know what's happening with them and be updated about their lives.

For me, I choose friends whom I personally know and have seen or talked to them before and I don't just simply add people for the sake of getting more friends to show up on my list. Because I do so, I don't add friends very often, and in fact it is others who add me as their friends most of the time. I would send a message to a person who added me whom I don't know asking them whether I know them, and if I don't I would just decline the friend request. I might seem a bit harsh here, but I do so to protect myself from "unruly friends" who might just wreck havoc ini friendster.
