Well my brother finally got sentenced for his "little" incident a couple months back. A refresher, he & his girlfriend at that time got drunk and into an argument. He threatened to kill her by burning down the apartment they lived in. He "allegedly" set the mattress on fire. There was $1,500 damage done only. He originally was charged with attempted murder, arson and a few lesser charges. He posted $500 bail. Then he got arrested in a bar for violation of his bail stipulations. Posted another $500 that day. Now his GF would not testify so they had no proof he meant to kill her etc. He plead guilty to drunk and disorderly, drunk in public, lewd & lavicious behavior, and simple assault. He lost all of his $1,000 bail as a fine and was sentenced to 60 days. He will be away for the holidays. That's it in a nut shell. Thanks all.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

It was her that heard him state this. There was no proof other than her testimony that HE started the fire. So without her testimony they had to reduce all charges. Ugghh! I don't think it's a bummer actually. He needs to be locked up a lot longer in my eyes. But you have to know his history then you'd understand my feelings about this so called man. Thanks.

You know, I am not convinced that that would be sufficient to make him regret what he did. I get the feeling he will just laugh it off. I know you take it seriously, but it just does not carry over to him.

Figures he would get away with just a slap on the wrist. Either he has some kind of hold on his g/f or she stupidly loves him that much not to press charges against him.

hmmmmm I am not sure where I stand on this. Considering he is not new to the legal system I think he should go to rehab or at least to some help program. $1000 is nothing in my eyes but then againg the charges were droped so I dont know if more could have been done.

That's what's so wrong here. He violated the no drinking part of his bail stipulations. Twice nor just once. That should have been enough for the justice system to make him enter treatment. But alas not to be. Oh well. His life not mine I say.

What is "lewd & lavicious behavior"?
I was aware of the arson & bail violitions. I even remember that his girlfriend would not testify, which is stupid.
Guess your brother got what he deserved. What is the jail like that he is in?
I am including a photo here of Yatala Prison where my brother is one of the managers.

Please don't take me wrong here, but I think your brother got off easy and this might be a good reality check for him. 60 days maybe enough time to teach him a lesson and he may just straighten up.
I hope for your sake he does, since I think you could stand a little help from him and not a giant pain.

I'm sorry for your sake, Grandpa Bob, that you have to have a brother that gets into trouble like this, but we can't pick our relatives! You don't seem to think he'll learn any lessons from this and you'd certainly know more than we would. It's too bad that others have had to suffer for his irresponsible and unlawful actions and I also think he should be forced into rehab and locked up for longer. Our justice system fails us all miserably at times but I doubt we'll ever be able to change that. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving regardless of your brother's problems!

Anger can bring in a lot of destruction for the both of the parties only when we are thru with the anger we realize what we have got in to .
Your brother must be a good guy ofcourse every one is good. anyway .

Sorry for that your brother will be away for the holidays. However, maybe it's good for him cos he should have learned something from this incident. Drinking too much doesn't only harm one's own health, but also people around them. Happy posting!!

Sorry to hear all he has done but he lu cked out when his'
girl friend would not testify against him.Maybe she was scared
to testify too.only 60 days.I feel he should have been sentenced
for what he did and that the girl friend should have testified
Things like that are hard on any family.
