I think umpires are needed as that gives richness to the game . If everything is known for certain using technology then cricket would lose its flavour .

I would much rather do away with technology and rely on the umpires. I know they will always make mistakes but players need to learn to live with those mistakes, but also to assist. Fielding teams need to be more restrained and not appeal where it is obvious that the batsman isn't out, and batsman need to walk if they have nicked the ball etc.
With hawkeye technology you are supposed to be able to see if an LBW would be out, but even then I don't have 100% confidence in what they say would happen to a ball, is actually true of a cricket ball

i think we would need just a single umpire in the ground to keep the game under control.its high time that we shift decision making from manual to technology because its really shame that we have so many technology that gets us the right decision and still we rely on umpires who make mistakes now at a regular basis.almost in every matches we can see one or two mistakes that our umpires make and its really shame that the batsman who is actually notout is sitting in the dressing room.i know even umpires would feel bad for giving out such a wrong decision.the problem is once the umpire gives out a wrong decision, next time he is under the pressure of giving right decisiona nd this pressure really causes more problems.so i would say rely on technology and let the games be more fair.
