@ of my friends give their kids on regular basis energy drinks. One has a 4 year old son and the other one has 2 daughters 1 is 4 years old 1 is 2. They have been doing this for at least 18 months. I dont aprove of this as the kids are not that active to start with and second they are just too young. Few days ago my friends husband had a b'day and we went there my friend insisted that my son should have one as well I have told her 100 times that my son is too young to drink it and I todl her again. My son found one while he was playing and had some. I was not able to put him to bed till almost 3 am than night. What is your opinion on energy drinks (red bull sort of drinks) and kids?

Yes I have the same one at home too much sugar and caffine and you have to chain him to stop bouncing (just joking people). That day he woke up at 8 and normaly by 9:30 he is in bed but man he was up and down and jumping and loughing and could not sit still for 2 min.

There is nothing postive about giving a child an energy drink. I would encourage your friend to do some research on what happens to a child if they continue to drink these. It will mess with their sleep patterns and they could even develop addictions and go through withdrawl symptoms. Encourage them to talk to their family doctor too.

Omg! i would have freaked out.and never take my child back over there...that can cause them health problems ...
If u have drank a energy drink before.you would know that when u are active it makes your heart beat faster. just imagine what it could do to a small child heart. POSSIBLY THROW THEM INTO A HEART ATTAK? not sure im no dr. but when your heats beats so fast its barley keeping up with itself what happend? your bllood pressure rises.. ugh! i dont even wanna think about it. i think u r wonderful for not letting ur child drink that stuff. i would not want to be in any situation again were my child could get ahold of a drink like that.

I have tried it 3 times. ! when I was 16-17 at gym they had no other things at the moment and I wanted a drink so I had to buy it. Second time was when I was 22 (and pregnant but I had no idea I was pregnant) and third time when Mother (the drink) came out my brother in law took us on his boat and all he had there was the energy drink (free samples from work). All 3 times I was feeling really bad.

Sometimes I found that some parents just don't know hoe to treat their children. They give a child everything he want, including something not good for him. Why they do this? One kind of parents don't know how to refuse, another kind of parents just don't want to make trouble. These things awlays happen, not only energy drinks. It is really difficult to bring up a child in this world.

I agree with you that it is hard to bring up kids this days but we make it that way. If I refuse to grant every wish my son has than he will know that some things are just not for him.

i agree with you totally that enery drinks are not at all meant for children as they are not as active and their digestive system is also not so well develop to absorb and digest the enery drink.more over enerydrink are also not advisable for the normal people who dont do sternous activities daily

Yes I know all that when I worked we had an order not to give our clients any energy drinks (I worked with disabled people) as they have lots of energy (well most of them) as it is and no way to burn that energy.

People do the dumbest things with their kids and wonder why the kids are problematic. We have bred the dumbest generation of parents since time began!
Excess sugar, any caffeine, any cola, any fizzy drinks and all that crap should NEVER be given to kids as young as four, never mind two...
What happened to basic parenting skills?? The trouble is that these dumb parents treat their kids like mini-teenagers by buying them branded trainers, giving them mobile phones and filling them full of coke and red bull.
Did you ever see anything more ridiculous that a two-year-old in a pair of 'Nikes'?
Give it a few more years and these people will be saying 'I'll give my kid another glass of Brandy if it helps her to sleep!!!'
I just realised, I bet there are already people doing that...
You are right to treat your child as a child, to be nourished rather than corrupted and poisoned - Later on in life, those kids will be asking their parents 'why did you do that to me??'

Why energy drinks? Why not just give them vitamins? Childrens vitamins are much better than giving them energy drinks. Kids have enough energy why would they need more.
My 11 year old asked me to buy him Red Bull from the ice cream truck because he said the ice cream guy won't sell them to kids. I said I would have to see what is in the drink before I do and I left it at that. He didn't ask again thank goodness. He told me one of his friends drinks it. I wonder why his friend would need an energy drink at all. He's a kid that would make him hyper I would guess.
In my opinion its not a good idea.

I dont know if the law forbids him to sell it to kids or he decided not to sell them to kids but that is great to know. Vitamins and energy drinks are 2 different things I dont think there is anything good in them to be honest expecially for young kids.

I am suprised that they are sold so easily in the shops as well. Here we cant get alchohol in normal super market, lighters and matches are often kept at the service desk. You have to be over 18 to buy spray paint, but these drinks are sold neht to the orange juice

I would never give a child one of those drinks. I don't even drink them myself. They are nothing but a ton of sugar and caffeine. Would you give your child a cup of coffee, or a spoon and a bowl full of sugar? No, so why an energy drink. Children have enough energy to support their activities, they don't need any extra. Not only are these drinks bad, but they cause you to crash when it wears off, and can cause addiction. I wish people would think more carefully about what they give to their children.

I honestly wish that to but aperently it is the latest thing. On top of that the kids have no way to burn that extra energy so it takes them ages to fall asleep.
