I got married in my in-law's living room. I wanted to get married at the lake near our town but we didn't have the money to reserve the spot and then decided to move our wedding to January (originally it was going to be in September) so it was too cold for an outside wedding.
When we moved it to January I then wanted to get married in the courthouse but we had no Justice of the Peace in our town to marry us so we had to get a preacher which I wasn't happy about. But he wasn't overly preachy or religious. It wasn't too bad and I really don't remember what he said. I just remember my husband laughing through the whole thing and getting me laughing. It was so silly.
On January 7 we will be married 8 years.

I don't think I wud get married in a church though, but whatever it be, I will have a lavish affair for my wedding.. After all, it wud be my first marriage... But I don't have any plans to marry anytime soon, atleast not for the next 7-8 years... Too preoccupied with work...

I do not belong to a church. I guess I could get married in a church if I paid for it I don't know. I wouldn't mind getting married in a church but I certainly don't think it's necessary. Heck if I ever get married I'd probably just do it at the court house because it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

Well for my opinion, couple can be married everywhere they want. Its their choice. But church is still the most special and sacred venue for me where to get married..=)

I got married in the backyard of my grandmothers house. It was beautiful, and it was special to me because it was a place that I cherished. It is your wedding and you should get married in the place you want. It is your special day and only happens once(if your lucky...j/k)

Two marriages
One in a church,
the other without,
neither God or Goddess
overlooked cause they
were bad to start
I was truly blind !
Free now from the
church-vow grind . . .

Well, the next I do this, I would Love to be married in church. Perhaps not the church I go to, but by my pastor and such. I don't really think it's where you have it, but how you both feel about the union because folks these days don't have no staying power to keep in good and bad times. they run at the first sign of bad.

I always pictured in a church but I would be open to ideas as long as it's something that can be done. I haven't too closely about marriage but this is interesting. I guess only time will tell on that. If you want to do that, go right on ahead but that's your call on what you want to do.

I am not religious, so I would not get married in a church. The wedding site is one thing I strongly beleive should be picked only by the couple getting married. It should be somewhere that is special to the two of you or that you will enjoy thinking about for the many years that you will be together.
My husband and I got married at the Grand Canyon Deer Farm. There were deer running around eating my bouquet while we said our vows. We got married in jeans and nice shirts with only 6 guests. It was AWESOME! Our wedding reflected who we were and got us off to a great start of making the two of us the decision makers together.
