I have had a lot of misfortune in my life. I never asked for help nor received help from anyone or any organizations. I lost my job in June and have been watching talk shows. On Montel on different occassions they have shown people who had fires in thier homes and lost everything. They are on there whining that they have no home, no belongsings, no where to go..... People are donating them tousands of dolalrs, giving them new houses, new cars, new clothes, vacations, computers, and the list goes on.
This ticks me off. These people were not hurt and feel they can't go on. I have had a housefire yet I didn't do that. I have a son burned on half his body and has went through over a dozen surgeries in the last 7 years and will have many more. We live in a run down mobile home meant for 3 or 4 with 8 people. I have a car that is not big enough for us all so some have to ride on the floor boards. All of our furniture is second hand bought at resale stores. I lost jobs because my son was in the hospital in another city but when no one is hurt why can't you go to work? I don't understand.
You do what you have to do but it seems many are only looking for a handout. They want somethig for free.

I think the answer is an easy one. They do it because they can. They take the opportunity that's given to them. I have to admit that I will take anything that is free if it's offered to me. I'm on social security and have a hard time making ends meet. I just got a part time job one day a week to help myself but it's only 4 hours so it's not a huge help but a help none the less. The way I see it is if you really need something and it's offered to you for free there's no harm in taking it. Sometimes it makes the person giving it feel good about themselves. I give a lot of things away that I don't need any more and the saying is true..."tis better to give than to recieive"....but someone has to be the receiver right?

It just seems inconsiderate. These people had insurance, had good jobs, were not like you or I. My parents lived on fixed incomes my whole life so I did not have the silver spoon. I live way below the poverty level yet I am not asking as I feel there are people worse off then me who needs it more. My children will not have a Christmas as I can't afford it.
