Concentrating on Space Travel...in case of 2012

I know that 2012 is 5 years away, and there's been some scare news about how it's the end of the world, everyone's dying, the Mayan calendar's ending on Dec. 21, the arrival of Planet Nibiru a.k.a. Planet X, all of that Nostradamus-y stuff. Also, currently the governments of the world are spending billions and billions of the taxpayers' money on the War on Terror. Well i've had a brief thought for a minute... If 2012's cataclysm sounds very serious, then shouldn't we put the War on Terror on hold for a while and divert some of that money to concentrate on space travel and intergalactic transportation instead? Because if 2012 is real, shouldn't we concentrate our time and money on something that can help humanity make like a tree and leave before the tree gets blown down? Shouldn't we focus our time, energy and money on something that can save humanity from this hellish nightmare of 2012? Because by now we should've created new technologies that will help us boldly go where no man has gone before.

There's too much we need to fix on Earth that maybe people aren't looking that much to going off to space yet... Let's just hope and pray "the end" won't come to soon. At least mankind should be ready by the time it creeps up on all of us...

Well yes but that would make sense and since when dos any government do anything that makes sense? SEriously though if we put money nto any of those things "just in case" there would be a whole other side of people saying the money was being wasted on that. We'll just have to keep making life here tolorable and deal with the 2012 prophesy when and if it happens.
