I am quite annoyed & distressed after all the effort our Military have made in Afghanistan to get rid of the Taliban, that they are almost back in control again.
Apparently they are getting quite near to Kabul. The Taliban are now in control of over half the country the report says.
Australian Forces have been there since 2001, & I have no doubt it is the same for the US.
Now what of fiasco is this going to turn into? Is it like the situation in Iraq?

I feel the same as you do. In fact I have two nephews heading over there in January and it scares the heck out of me! Unfortunately the U.S. President decided to pretty much abandon our mission in Afghanistan and concentrate on an immoral and unnecessary war in Iraq and this is what we get. I'm not one to like war but I was in favor of going into Afghanistan after 9/11; if only we'd have "stayed the course" there untl the job was done maybe the Taliban wouldn't have regrouped as they have and maybe we'd even have found Bin Laden, the one responsible for killing 3,000 Americans. Your guess is as good as mine as to what this will turn into. I'm afraid we'll have not just one quagmire but two.

Unfortunately the Aussies stayed in Afghanistan. My cousins husband is over there, plus a number of people from my home city of Adelaide.
Mind you, we will probably have a change of Federal Government on Saturday, & this may cause some changes to the view on keeping Australia there.
