Why don't black cats cross my path?

There are plenty of black cats around here. It's meant to be lucky for them to cross your path (in England, I think it's unlucky in some places) but whenever there is a black cat near me, it stops as if it refuses to actually waslk past me! So I often cross their path but they never cross mine. What do you think about that?

I think they're scared of you, they look at you and think you might take them home as your familiar. ;P

Hmmm, I never though they would think I would take them home.

Cats are not rational in general and there really is no explanation as to why they will not cross your path. Maybe they don't like you or don't like the sounds you make when you walk.... It is one of those things. Cats are very peculiar. I have one myself and he likes to trip me so who knows.
