Right now we are still using slow dial up internet. I think just about everyone else on earth uses high speed. Our reasons for still using dial up are, It is cheap, high speed internet here costs about 4 times what I pay now. Also we are not really online that much to justify spending that much for a high speed connection. The downside is that it is so slow, lol. Another annoying thingbout dial up is that since we added call waiting to our phone we keep getting bumped off the internet every time someone tries to call us. Do you still use dial-up? If you do, why?

We changed from dial up to cable, over ten years ago. We had the same problem as you with not being able to take phone calls because our sons had to use the internet for their homework. We did not have caller id or call waiting at that time. Then we got cable, and after that cable company went out of business, we got Shaw and we have been happy ever since. Even with dial up being cheaper, there were often so many people on the lines that it was slow.

We have thought about switcing over a few times, but so far we are not online that much. My kids don't yet have to use the internet for homework. When they do we will probably switch over to high speed.

Oh yea! Count me in! I am one of those who is using dial up connection! Presently I am answering you on this line only! I am still on this connection basically because I am staying away from township and we don't have any Broadband connections avaialble ! So with the help of Airtel Mobile services I am getting my dial up internet connection and as you discussed it is quite cheap! I am paying 299 Indian Rupees which is quite reasonable for one month ! This I am getting on prepaid service, which is what makes it very attractive! Regarding the speed I think it is quite enough for people like me who are not on line every time or doing anyu business on online! For simple browsing and for passing a couple hours or few more this connection is a great boon! Thanks friend it was a good topic of discussion! I enjoyed the participation!

Thanks for the response. I believe that 299 rupees works out to around $7.50 canadaian dollars. That is quite cheap indeed, about half of what I am paying. If you don't mind me asking, how much is broadband in your area?

My sympathy to you. We lived in a town for a year where the population was 5...yup, 5. We had to use dial up and it sucked like a Hoover. I am so glad to be back in the land of the living and able to get DSL. I missed it so much. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
