I could say that I am a techie person in a sense that I handle most of the computers at home, a desk top as well as two lap tops. I do upgrade the desk top whenever possible. Install application even though I know my brothers and sisters could do them as well.
I have recently availed an eight Gigabyte flash disk, a 512 MB video card from a 128 MB that we use to have in our desk top. I even purchased a lap top sleeve for one of the lap tops. I'm considering on upgrading the hard disk drive too.
I'm also a techie gamer though I still don't have a PSP. I'm currently setting aside my Gameboy Advance SP but we do have a PlayStation 2 as well as an X-Box. Those next Gen Consoles are still out of reach.
On Cellphones, I use to have a Nokia 3310 but, after losing it in an unfortunate event, and waited for a while, I eventually got a Nokia N-Gage that I still have up to now.

You mean beginning?
I think techie is a term used associated with a technologically sound person of that who have knowledge when it comes to computers and gadgets.
The only usage that I could relate would be in reference on describing a person in statements, I guess...
