Can Roger Federer win the French this year?

he finally won it and hopefully he can defend it this year.

I think Roger will give French Open an all mighty go this year. I have a feeling that if he does not win it this time around, then he might never win the French Open. But, on clay, Nadal is going to be there and he is not going to give it up easily. So I am hoping for another Federer-Nadal classic at the French Open final!! Cheers! Ram

Even I am a big fan of Roger, I think it is still difficult for him to win this year. U know, Nadal, the king of clay, is Federal's main rival. This year Roger lost in the final game agaist Nadal in clay. He didn't have a good start this year, it seems it might be a difficult going year for him. But I hope that Federer can win the French Open, he need this champion for long time to perfect his career life.

Definitely Roger Federer is going to win the next french open , he makes the play look easy to win.

Roger havs beaten Nadal on Clay this year in some ATP title, I think he ill do again in French open Finale 2008.

Well Nadal will be his main threat . It will be their game thats going to decide the fate .

I think it difficult for him,,,,you know that Djokovic,Nalbandian ,his foe nadal and so on,, Besides,federer's performance is not so good this year,,,

There has been some buzz going around claiming that Roger Federer was quoted saying "French Open is mine this year." I cannot verify whether or not Roger Federer actually said it. But it certainly is a courageous statement to even make. Let us not forget that however close Roger came close to winning the French Open, the fact is he wasn't able to pull it off. Many thought that he was gonna make it last year, after he beat Nadal in a clay tournament a week before the said grandslam. But, as said, he failed to win it. Is Roger gonna be able to win French? That is too speculative a question to consider. But for argument's sake, it is certainly good to entertain the question. For argument's sake, I think it's good to consult his previous performance as great pointers to how he shall perform this year. With recent history as our reference, my answer would be, well, no. Roger Federer most likely isn't gonna win the French this year. He may be the best tennis player in the world right now. But his game suits well for hardcourts, and his talent apt for grass. Unfortunately, his game in claycourts, as before, is most likely to come short of talents such as Nadal's, or Nalbadian's. Clay courts need great ability for cuts, lob and drop shots. Roger's game is not as good as Nadal's or Nalbadian's when it comes to these kinds of shots. He is good, great in fact. No questions. His topspins and groundstrokes are phenomenal. But sorry, when these kinds of shots are not supplied the shots that one need to win in clay courts, they are gonna become predictable in the long run. That's what happens to Roger Federer in clay. And, unfortunately, that is what's gonna happen to Roger Federer in clay this year at the French Open.

Federer could not win a single title on his one of favourite surfaces Hard this year. So i don't think he will be able to win French open in front of Nadal. Only Wimbledon is his hope for this year. He should improve his game. He is playing very poor this year. He is my favourite tennis star.
