Amber Alert/Carjacking

There was a story on our local news last night about an Amber Alert that had been put out regarding a baby that had been taken in a carjacking. It seemed to be touch-and-go for a while, but all ended well when the baby(4 months old), was placed on a curb in a car seat bawling its heart out. Now, what bothers me is the stupidity of taking the baby along with the car in the first place-and, to add insult to injury, leaving the poor baby out in the very cold weather we had last night. Do you think these morons will ever learn? I just think criminals are really stupid. I'm glad the baby was recovered alright because the poor mother looked like she was close to a breakdown.

Yes, Aurone, for once luck was on the side of the victims.

Here's the scary part of this type of behavior. They probably didn't even notice that there was a baby in the backseat, until they had taken the car. I heard a story like this one awhile back, and that was the case.

You're absolutely right, cblackink, and they admitted it!

I cannot imagine how that mom would have felt. I am glad the baby was returned. Criminals are stupid, otherwise they would be spending the energy and thought they put into crime on something that would have genuine benefit to themselves and others. A baby would have been very stressed outside where I am last night. I hate to even think of it.

That is the problem, GG. These stupid people don't think at all!

The criminal mind, or lack of it, is subject to mistakes that leave the criminal vulnerable to being caught or discovered. The very nature of the criminal mind breeds stupidity, otherwise this person would have the smarts to avoid this kind of activity. Too bad that innocent parties often get caught in the middle. At least this episode ended up with no one seriously injured. I think it is hard to relate to this kind of thinking unless one can lower themselves to swim around in it for a while. The person of integrity has no reason to go to that place.

I understand perfectly, sigma. Why else would they be called "stupid criminals?"
