We have 2 in our house. They are for when we go out and emergencies. We have a special plan and get credit to the amount we pay. Our usage is pretty low, but having it with me when I go out means I will never forget the toilet paper again!

Mobile phones are a necessity these days. I have one for myself. I bought one for my wife and another one for my mom. All the numbers are the supplementary numbers from my call plan. They all have the same last four digits so that they are easy to remember. I even have a number ready for my son to use once he is big enough to have a phone. LOL!

I have one cell phone that is only for emergencies and so far I have not had to use it. I can talk to my younger son because we go by the same provider, but everyone else, I have to wait until after six or on the weekends. I will be added more to it in March, but right now I am very limited as I only have about 150 free minutes. I suppose the demerits is unless you keep track, you can run up the bill. Advantages, if you are stuck somewhere like with an ax murderer, you can press 911 and get out of that situation as well as take his picture, and play some horrible music to ruin his ear drums.
